What do you have for breakfast?

I just thought I would see what people have for breakfast.

I normally have a yoghurt before leaving for work, but find I am peckish around 11am.

If you take a look at the Topics, on the right of your screen, bottom if using a mobile, you'll see one entitled Recipes/Meals/Snacks. This is a post from that topic, it's all about breakfasts :)

Porridge is always a good one. If you don't like it with milk / water you can mix up the night before with fat free yoghurt and frozen berries, which is delicious and very filling.

I do me an omelette (usually spinach and mushroom) almost every morning around half 7 and that generally keeps me going through till lunch at half 12 :)

Chucky egg and toast. Keeps me full till lunchtime usually.

I alternate between fruit+small cereal+yogurt one day and either 2 poached or 2 scrambled eggs on a slice of toast the next, or maybe one poached egg and a rasher of bacon, or sometimes one egg and a spoonful or two of baked beans on toast.

A high protein breakfast in theory should hold off any "sugar dips" longer than a high carb breakfast.

Porridge too is a "slow release" cereal and will fill you for longer.

Protein like eggs keep you fuller for longer. Yoghurt by itself isn't really enough to last until lunchtime.

Week days porridge with milk or two shredded wheat or a large bowl of special K. Weekends one chucky egg or two scrambled eggs on toast or an omelette. I try to have breakfast as late as possible to keep me going, but these things usually see me until lunch.

I have 3 different breakfasts which I alternate throughout the week.

2 poached eggs on seeded bread

Bowl of fruit and fibre with milk

Sachet of porridge with milk and a sliced banana on top

The days when I have eggs or porridge definitely keep me going longer.

I usually have breakfast at 6:30am and it keeps me going until tea and fruit at 11am

I have overnight porridge, or two pieces of toast with butter, or bran sticks with protein yoghurt :) at the weekend I like to have scrambled eggs with some bacon! I get so bored of eating the same thing over and over so try to vary it.

Frequently have a smoothie made with kale, spinach, nuts seeds, berries and nut milk plus spices. Alternative is poached egg on rye bread with spinach and half an avocado.

Both keep me full until lunchtime if not beyond!

Overnight porridge and a piece of fruit, or just fruit if I haven't remembered to get the oats ready the night before. But by about 10 30 I need a STRONG coffee to keep me going.

I'm not sure if I could find time to cook eggs for breakfast but I like the idea.

I like to mix things up so on my list are:

Bagel with peanut butter or ham & cream cheese

Scrambled egg on toast

Crumpets or porridge

And every day I have a glass of cranberry juice. Usually these breakfasts last me till around 11'ish and if I feel peckish I'll have either a piece of fruit or a packet of wotsits or quavers

I have skyr yoghurt, high in protein, with a very small amount of granola because I like 'crunch' and I add 3 sliced strawberries, half a banana and some grapes. Keeps me satisfied until lunch time and is really yummy.

I have started to commute to work by train so I am leaving home at 5:30. I take with me a pot of porridge or Bircher (made overnight) and I've found that this does get me through to lunchtime.

I have bran flakes with semi skimmed milk with fresh raspberries & blueberries. Not as soon as I get up though, maybe an hour after. Get snackish about 10.30 and have a banana or other fruit or crackerbread with banana.

My favourite breakfast is poached egg and smoked salmon on a bed of spinach. You can't go wrong with a good egg dish. I love kedgeree on a weekend too.

Sometimes 2 egg omelette, with bacon and mush

Cereal and a banana in summer and porridge in winter plus 2 cups of tea

I have porridge with fruit.

Hi

I have avocado and grilled tomatoes on sourdough toast - or avocado and a poached egg. I sometimes have muesli or porridge soaked in apple juice overnight with some fruit.

I am retired so there is no rush for me to get out to work. If that was the case, think I would go with the overnight porridge and fruit.

On the other hand I do get up very early so would have time to do all these things and still get to work!!!!

In the past I have had a Superdrug chocolate shake whizzed up with a banana and find that very filling.

Sorry if I have been unhelpful, but good luck with it.

Working from home means I have time anyway in the mornings but I rarely feel like eating before 9.30 - 10.00. Weekdays I have a slice of toast spread with marmite and topped with a poached or fried (in frylite) egg, which lasts me until mid-afternoon. I do it during my morning "break". I wish I could get into the habit of eating earlier in order to spread my food better during the day but I've never been a fan of eatIng in the mornings, I could quite easily go until 2pm before eating if I didn't make myself have that breakfast.

I used to be like that but when I started a weight loss programme at my local gym many moons ago they reccommended you should have breakfast so I started with yoghurt and after a year or so I progressed to muesli. The thought of eating at 5:30 used to make me feel ill but now I need to have breakfast though ona day off I tend to be a bit more leisurely about my breakfast

Hi cronoz

I love breakfast - I am such a grump if I don't refuel first thing. My current fav is Flahavan's mixed seed porridge oats (has a 30g scoop), blueberries and a couple of almonds and walnuts, with skimmed milk. In the summer I mix the oats with yogurt and have blueberries, strawberries and whatever is going!

I do poached egg on toast one day at the weekend, occasionally a piece of bacon but that's rare and special now!

I am a late starter! I have one piece of toast malted seedy bread with Benecol light or Bagel Thins plain toasted with the same spread. I sometimes have a satcht of porridge with skimmed milk. Plus I take my tablets with skimmed milk. Mug of earl grey decaf. I have lunch about 12.30 but I can last till 1.30 if we are out and about. Taa daaaa

Most days I have 20g porridge oats with 10g punmpkin seeds, 10g flaked almonds, four dried apricots and hazelnut milk. I warm it for a minute and a half in the microwave to take the chill off. I love it!

my breakfast depends on if I am off and what shift I am working. If I am on a long day I have muesli and milk which I soak overnight, if I am off or about to start a night shift I may either have porridge with some fruit, toast and marmalade or cheesy tomato toast. do vary depending on what I am planning to eat during the day
