Hi everyone,

During weekdays I tend to have the same breakfast, which is porridge with nuts and seeds, fruit (either dried raisins and apricot or fresh blueberries and/or strawberries) and cinnamon with semi-skimmed milk.

But on weekends I like to have something different on either Saturday or Sunday, and today I decided to have this tasty breakfast, consisting of Smoked Haddock, poached egg, baked tomato and 1.5 slices of wholemeal toast with butter. It looks good, doesn't it, and it's filling and delicious. :-)

I had a query concerning the calories, and I used Myfitnesspal to calculate the calories as follows:

Haddock fillet 100g = 116 calories.

Poached egg (medium) = 60 calories

Wholemeal toast with butter (1.5 slices) = 173 calories

Baked tomato = 13 calories.

Total calories in breakfast = 362 calories.

I just wondered what you tend to eat in the weekdays, and whether you have something different on weekends. If so, what kind of things do you have? What did you have today? I'd love to hear, as it is good to get ideas for tasty breakfasts, and compare notes!

We have frozen fruit , bran flakes (35gms) and Activia zero yoghurt as a treat at weekends. Or, we have eggs (in Frylite) baked beans, quorn sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes with the allowance of 2 small (and I mean small) slices of wholemeal toast with Laughing Cow light cheese triangle. YUM. We are doing SWorld at mo and finding it works for us. Have tried to do on-line, but found I need the interaction face to face with group meetings, to get me started.

During the week on work days, Egg buttie. Made with 2 slices small toast, fried egg, Laughing cow triangle, spread of marmite and fresh tomatoes - YUM.

Thanks for sharing your weekend breakfast choices, they all sound tasty.

Glad that you're finding that SWorld is working for you currently. I have seen some of their recipes - as I occasionally buy a magazine by them, and I have to say they always look really tasty and filling. Good that you're finding the face to face interactions work well for you. I think it has to be something that you personally find beneficial to really work.

Fab breakfast I must say......how many calories?

I tend to have a more relaxed breakfast on a Sunday also & in bed.....so to not get messy I normally have Crumpets !!!! With some proactive buttery taste.

Not been on track the last three days....been going well over my calories each day.

Yep - all within the SWorld programme - honest. SW keeps down both carbs and fats - don't do the calories, sorry. All I can say though is that I do lose weight with the programme - another 2 pound this week. It is really about changing your choices - not thinking it is a diet!

Sorry, I haven't calculated the calories, but I'll hope to do so later - and then I can let you know! I won't forget - but may not post that info till much later today - I'll put it on my 'to do' list.

Crumpets - I do love those!!!

Do you think you'll be able to get back on track going forward? I know you've been over for the last three days - hope the week ahead will be a good one, and you can get back on track again. Leave the past behind, and go forward with a fresh perspective if you can. Pre-planning always helps me - so maybe do a menu plan of what you can eat for the next few days? Or at least some 'options' if you don't want to be too rigid about it.

I decided to go straight on Myfitnesspal to calculate the calories in my breakfast, and it was as follows:

Haddock fillet 100g = 116 calories.

Poached egg (medium) = 60 calories

Wholemeal toast with butter (1.5 slices) = 173 calories

Baked tomato = 88 calories.

(Amending the calories following a comment by Windswept1, so baked tomato = 13 calories, not 88 calories! )

Total calories in breakfast = 437 calories.

Total calories amended due to incorrect tomato total: = 362. Even better! :-)

I haven't used Myfitnesspal for a while, and it was good to re-visit it, so thanks for that nudge towards it!

Hi Lowcal, your breakfast looks great - I haven't tried smoked haddock before - is it like smoked mackerel/kippers? Funny you mention breakfasts... I tried to have an egg for breakfast everyday last week as an experiment to see if I could get through to lunchtime without my stomach rumbling and I think it sort of worked, but maybe that's because I wanted it to work? I'm willing to continue the experiment for another week to be sure... ;) I had a soft boiled egg 3 mornings and scrambled eggs (with 2 eggs) one morning. On Friday I was too short of time so had granola with soya milk as normal. I did notice that I was hungrier after Friday's breakfast, so am definitely considering introducing more eggy breakfasts. For the toast part, as I'm wheat free I used genius wholemeal seeded style 'bread', which is quite convincing, but I'm not convinced of how healthy it actually is so I'm on the lookout for alternatives. At the weekend I like to make potato cakes to go with my eggs and beans. I literally boil a few new potatoes, crush them together in a semi-mash, shape between 2 big spoons and fry on both sides in a smidgen of olive oil. I also like adding oven baked tomatoes on the side too - better than ketchup :)

Hi Ruth,

Smoked haddock isn't an oily fish like mackerel or kippers, but it is a tasty fish - it's not necessary to choose the 'yellow' type, as I think that's purely a 'dye' (could be wrong about that, but it's an assumption I've made), but my husband prefers the colour of it, so that's the one we choose. I can tolerate the 'grey' soups I sometimes make, but he is definitely one for the aesthetics of food, and prefers them to look more appealing. Interesting how we can be affected by how our food looks. Understandable really.

Interesting to hear your experiments this week with having some eggy breakfasts - I have to say I feel fuller today than I normally do with my porridge breakfast, and that makes me feel relatively full. I like the sound of your potato cakes - lovely!

I absolutely love baked tomatoes, and have them quite often as part of meals. The flavour of the tomato is enhanced so much as a result, and especially if you choose the vine tomatoes, as they seem to have such a great taste. I don't have ketchup, as I suspect there's added sugar and salt in that.

I was suprised that you eat eggs actually, for some reason I thought you didn't. I always add an egg to the Fruit cake version that I do, whereas I know you don't add an egg to your version of it - is there any particular reason why you don't like to add an egg to your cake mixture?

For weekday breakfast I usually have granola, yoghurt & a spoon of flaxseed/goji berry mix.

But yesterday I went to the supermarket and stumbled upon steel cut oats, which I have seen mentioned on various websites - So I bought it and ran home to cook it with an apple and it was an epic fail - It came out really slimy and tasteless. The apple kind of boiled away & disappeared. On the plus side I was full for a long time

Weekends I used to eat something called Wudy sausages but they are pretty processed and I'm not 100% sure what's in them.

So in an attempt to wean myself off them, this weekend I opted for an omelet with peppers, 1 slice of toast & (after processing all the cons) 2 slices of a Romanian salami called banat bun (also unsure what's in this, but hoping it's a little less deadly than the Wudy sausage)

I also had a nutribullet smoothie made with frozen berries, carrot, 1/2 freshly squeeze lemon & 1/2 orange

Hi Gracie,

Thanks for sharing your breakfast options, they sound delicious. Sorry to hear that your trial of the steel cut oats didn't turn out so well. I would recommend cooking the porridge separately from whatever you add to it, so that might be worth a try. Oats are certainly very filling, and I really enjoy them on weekdays.

Your omelette sounds really great - I really enjoy having omelette and love adding things like peppers, onions, tomatoes and stuff like that.

Sounds like you're enjoying using your Nutribullet too.

This breakfast looks amazing! Hope you enjoyed.

So with me being a veggie I tend to have the heaps of fruit porridge with a banana in the morning.

Or beans or spaghetti on toast

Or quorn sausages on toast 😀

Or scrambled egg on toast.

I always try and stick to brown bread too.

I do love tea cakes, they are 134 calories which are a nice treat on the weekend but don't always keep you full.. Xx

Yes, I did enjoy it, it was very tasty!

I like the sound of all your breakfast options, they sound really delicious. I love scrambled eggs on toast, or poached eggs on toast - and sometimes have boiled eggs with soldier toast - especially if I'm feeling a bit down in the dumps - it really cheers me up!

Tea cakes sound tasty too - I haven't had one of those for a long time, but sometimes I have them if I go to a tea-room and fancy a snack. Delicious with butter.

I am now in maintenance . I stopped eating cereals when I started to lose weight and I no longer have them, its too easy to have too big a portion .

Sometimes I have porridge but mostly I eat 2 eggs, I have them most days, boiled, scrambled or dry fried with tomato, sugar free beans or ham. Sometimes with hovis toast , I started buying a small sliced hovis to lose weight, and I still buy it cuz I find I dont need so much bread as I used to, one slice a day is often enough.

Also I like kippers ( the boil in bag ones which i microwave) . Not low in calories but very good for my oily fish quota !!

If Im in a real hurry I make a smoothie with one banana, a measure of whey protein powder (choc flavour) made up with half water/half milk, whizzed up in a liquidiser. It is very satisfying for about 220 cals.

I love the sound of your breakfasts - shows you're feeling satisfied with eggs - they are so versatile aren't they, so many ways to cook them and like you say you can put them alongside other tasty things and it's quite a satisfying meal. I used to have 2 full slices of wholemeal bread, but now I mainly have 1 and a half, which is easy as my husband has the other 1 and a half. :-)

I love kippers! Great to have the oily fish regularly.

Your banana smoothie sounds tasty.

That looks a delicious breakfast, Lowcal. I also used to eat porridge on a week day but unfortunately it no longer agrees with me.

Instead of bread, we often make pancakes to go with eggs. This weekend we had pancakes made from chickpea flour, water and a good pinch of salt, leaving the batter in the fridge overnight. It's called 'socca' (in France) or 'farinata' (in Italy). Very filling and tasty.

Good luck with the Monday way-in. I am still fighting my last 8 lbs!

Great to see you, and thanks for commenting on the breakfast - it was indeed delicious. Sorry to hear that porridge isn't agreeing with you anymore, that's a pity.

I like the sound of your pancakes to go with eggs - and thanks for sharing that recipe. I will definitely give them a try, as I do like pancakes, and they sound nice and healthy.

Good luck with shifting your last 8 pounds, I've been fighting with my last 9 pounds for a long long time, but I am remaining hopeful, and also determined.

Thank you Lowcal. Newest granddaughter is now five months old and doing well. Lots of running about and lifting for me, which is all good.

I'm having a go at changing eating patterns to see if this will help shift those pesky few pounds, so moving main meal to midday and trying to extend the hours between last and first meal.

You could also try buckwheat flour for pancakes (French galettes) for a change.

Wow, 5 months old already, time has passed quicker than I realised. :-)

I am also trying a few changes with eating patterns - trying a longer 'fasting window' by having no snacks in the evenings after 8pm. It was a 'challenge' for me last night, as I felt like nibbling something - but I resisted the urge, so that was good!

I will try buckwheat flour for the pancakes as well - many thanks for all those suggestions.

Hope you enjoyed your porridge and walnuts this morning - that's a nice combination. I have mixed nuts with mine (usually 3 brazil nuts, about equivalent of 2 broken walnuts, and 4 almonds). I love nuts!

Lowcal I actually I like smoked haddock! Your breakfast is yummy! All my favourite food I bet you enjoyed your breakfast! It looks like we have similar tastes. It is getting too dangerous as I will copy you! :) Luckily I can't join you due to bread and eggs, So more for you! :)

I am very naughty I am not always religious with breakfast but when I do eat I have oats with mashed banana and cinnamon. Granolo bars with peanut butter and banana and dates with oats cake. You once put a link for these recipes from Ruth and I am ever so grateful as my diet is so limited but you are giving me yummy foods to eat and therefore I am now pin free. You all deserve a gold medal.

I am very happy to hear you like smoked haddock! :-) That sounds like your perfect breakfast, as it contains all your favourite foods, you should definitely have it very soon, if you haven't had such a breakfast for a while, it is really tasty! :-) You can copy me, no problem, that would be very flattering, and I do copy lots of people's ideas, so I think it is a great trend. :-) Ah, I see you can't do bread and eggs, so you can't replicate it afterall. More for me - I see your logic. :-)

I am sure you are not really 'very naughty' - you always seem 'very nice' to me, Bakersdozen. :-) I like the sound of your oats with mashed banana and cinnamon. A nice combination for definite.

Great that you have enjoyed making the Granola and the oats cake with the peanut butter and banana and dates - that link to the recipes by Ruth_Canal_Runner are amazing aren't they - she is an amazing whizz for thinking up great healthy recipes. I am indebted to her as I adapted my fruit cake recipe from one of her great cake recipes. I eat it almost every day, and that reminds me, I need to bake some more, as I haven't got any left now!!!

I was hoping you would yell at me that I must eat breakfast :) But seriously is there such a thing as eating everyday the same time ones meals and that is how one looses weight. Just wondering as this week I am not so excited with my weight loss!

Hi Bakersdozen,

There are different schools of thought on it, some people advocate a long 'fasting window' between their evening meal and their next meal, thereby I guess some people might advocate not eating breakfast, and having a later meal either mid morning or at lunchtime. Others would advocate eating 'regularly' to keep metabolism fired up - those are just a couple of viewpoints, there are numerous other viewpoints!

Evidence and personal anecdotes and experience will support different findings, and different effects will occur for individuals, so I would personally never judge someone for when they eat their meals, or whether they include all the 'usual' meals within their eating plans - it's what works best for an individual.

Yes it does make sense. I wasn't trying to judge it is just that in the beginning I lost so nicely and than it suddenly stops or I loose very little so I was wondering if I will eat more like all of you and eat 3 regular meals and stick to 18 points and make sure to drink enough. Thanks for explaining.

Definitely keep going with your healthy eating plan Bakersdozen - it's not all about the scales. Weight does 'slow up' sometimes, and even when we think we've had a 'good week' in terms of sticking to things, it can sometimes show a gain on the scales - but it doesn't mean it's a gain in fat, more likely to be a water retention or hormonal change or just general fluctuations - it's best to keep with it and keep on track and have faith that you'll see the results in the end - the scales do usually catch up in the end, or there'll be another marker of achievement such as a change in body measurements or better fit of clothes etc.

I've worked incredibly hard this week - but I'm not sure what tomorrow's scales will say. But I know I need to 'keep motivated' and not let the scales put me off - and I hope you'll do the same.

Hi Lowcal,

Like you I tend to stick to porridge with nuts/seeds/fruit on weekdays (I would recommend quinoa porridge - super filling as more protein). On Sunday I tend towards 'brunch' as exercise quite early. Today was toast with wilted spinach, mushrooms and poached egg on top - delicious!

Good afternoon! We are not alone in being porridge fans for weekdays, seems it's quite a popular trend in breakfast choices. I've not tried quinoa porridge, that's an interesting idea. Do you literally boil up the quinoa with milk, or how do you do it? I think I'll give it a go, to see how it tastes. I do like quinoa for other meals, but would never have thought of using it as a porridge. Thanks for that idea. :-)

Hi Lowcal,

Quinoa porridge is really easy and gentle on the digestive system. You are correct that you just boil it up with milk (I prefer almond) adding any extra flavours about half way like cinnamon and honey. As it takes about 15-20 mins to cook I do a batch to last a couple of days in the evening, pop it in the fridge and then just microwave a portion in the morning with an extra splash of milk. I tend to chop a banana on top and add some chopped walnuts or seeds. Give it a try and let me know what you think!!

Hi all, I'm new to this site. That breakfast looks great Lowcal...I'll try that next weekend. I had a boiled egg and 2 toast with butter this morning....which came in at 313kcal and 10g of fat. During the week I have muesli,seeds,cacao powder,cinnamon,half a banana & blueberries at work with s/sk milk (havent worked out the kcals & fat for this yet so I might have to tweak if too much). I start work at 6am so my weekday breakfasts have to be prepared in advance so there's not much scope/time for variety but at weekends I can be more creative. My diet/exercise starts proper tomorrow, I am following the Nhs 12 week weight loss plan so am looking forward to hearing about more recipe ideas and hearing others stories. Good luck for next week everyone.

My breakfast remains the same throughout the whole week as I love blueberry porridge. On rare occasions I do enjoy a full English, but not every weekend :-)

Yes, it was tasty, and great that you could almost taste it too - maybe that's the way to eat healthily - by 'virtual tasting' - that would be a concept wouldn't it...!?

Blueberry porridge - do you make that yourself, or is it a flavoured porridge that you buy ready-made? Porridge is definitely a popular breakfast choice, when looking through the replies today.

A full English contains so many tasty things, doesn't it. I don't have red meat much, so I rarely have bacon, but sometimes I'll have a 'Vegetarian breakfast' if I'm out and about and have one in a cafe.

Thanks for contributing to this thread, and thanks for the lovely reply you sent in your other post today - I thought I'd better not reply again, as I know you were feeling emotional - but that's such a lovely emotion to have Trafford1 - you've got so much to look forward to with your forthcoming Wedding, and you've worked really hard and achieved so much, and it's just fantastic that you're enjoying life and looking forward to such a special occasion - it will be an amazing Wedding.

I have the Oats so simple brand which is quick and easy and so yummy. I could eat bacon everyday that's how much I love that, but that wouldn't be a healthy choice so every now and again is good.

I've had a wonderful day today and treated myself to some more new clothes which is always nice. I'm not going further than a size 8/10 so will be able to keep these one's :-)

Great to see you, and thanks for contributing to this thread on breakfast options - your breakfast this morning sounds really interesting. I bet there are lots of nutrients within the fried liver in particular.

I've noticed that you like double cream - I've still not tried the 'iced whipped cream' dessert that you suggested in the other thread - I must give that a go, as I do like the taste of cream very much.

Eggs is also featuring as a popular breakfast option amongst the replies today. I love eggs in all styles. Really tasty.

Buttered cheese! That sounds quite unusual, I don't think I've ever tried that. Do you literally put butter on a slice of cheese, or do you heat it up at all? Very interesting.

Waiting for the sharp in takes of breath...I don't do breakfast!

I like to try and fast for 16 hours or as to this as possible each night. (Michael Moseley once showed this as an alternative way to fast. I like it because it gives my body time to repair etc etc.)

So I miss breakfast and eat fruit or toast at 11.00 am.

However Saturday morning I have whatever I fancy when I get up! I may be adding your breakfast to that list Lowcal!

Back to fasting most Sundays as I get up and play netball in the morning. By the time I get home it is time for lunch.

Now just finishing the cooking of a healthy roast. :-)

Ah, so you are one of the people who don't do breakfast. I was just saying to Bakersdozen that people definitely vary - and that some people like to have as long a fasting window as possible - and I also saw Michael Moseley's programme (both recently and in the past) about this as an alternative way to fast. Your choice to miss breakfast and have a meal (fruit or toast) at 11am is a good example of that.

Great that you like the look of my breakfast today, and that you're thinking of adding it to your list of potential weekend meals.

Hope you enjoyed your Netball game this morning, and enjoyed your lunch. Your healthy roast for this evening sounds good. I've had some fish pie - as I enjoyed doing one last weekend, and decided to make another. Really tasty.

Thanks for sharing another perspective - i.e. the choice of 'no breakfast' - it is something I'd like to try out sometime, but I am trying to lengthen the 'fasting window' at the other end currently, i.e. not having any snacks after 8pm, and I am already finding that a bit of a challenge, so don't want to have to wait too long to have my breakfast! :-)

After reading about peasemeal (an old Scottish tradition of roasting and grinding yellow peas into coarse flour) I made some this morning, using my ancient Kenwood chef food mill.

I roasted some yellow split peas at 175C for 10 mins, let them cool, ground them and then made a kind of porridge (the Scots call it brose, apparently), using 50g of the peasemeal (around 170 calories). When it was ready, I added some cooked mixed dried fruit (raisins, apricots and prunes, I think) and a splash of milk.

It was very yummy, and a nice change from oatmeal. I'll be having it again.

I am definitely a porridge eater 6 or 7 days a week - its just so easy and I often eat breakfast at work so porridge is a simple one with some peanut butter, honey and chia seeds.

Interesting! I have almost the same breakfast as you everyday, just add i/2 tsp of honey. Yesterday, however, I tried for something different and made a 2 egg spinach, onion omlette with 2 fingers of orange juice. Felt so indulgent, lol!

I worked all weekend so today and tomorrow are my days off. I start work at 8 am three or four days a week, and I can't eat breakfast early so it's usually oats so simple original microwave porridge sachets because they don't have any sugar and are quick and easy at work. I add different fruits so I don't get bored. Days off and 10am start work days I'm a bit more creative. This morning I had an orange before I walked the dog, then came back and had tomatoes cooked in a little olive oil, egg fried in a smidge of organic butter (I carefully flip it over so it cooks both sides) cooked spinach with a small spoonful of Philadelphia cheese, drop of lemon juice, and black pepper stirred in and a small slice of rye toast. All came to approx 350 cals which is more than my porridge breakfasts but will keep me going for longer! ☀️

Thanks for sharing your breakfast options - I used to have Oats so Simple too, but now I'm opting for oats from the Health food shop, and choosing the largest size oats I can see, as I saw on a programme that they take longer to digest if they're larger - bit like the soup effect of liquid soups. Not much difference, but it was a difference, so I thought I'd capitalize on that! :-) But I know that the ones you're using are so easy and simple when you want to do something quickly.

Your breakfast this morning sounds delicious!

Interesting to hear your porridge breakfast is less than 350 calories, I think mine is quite a bit more, but that's because I add nuts and seeds and some fruit to it - I must put it on Myfitnesspal tomorrow to remind myself of the total. I am only recently getting back to using that app, as I'd stopped for a while, but I'm getting intrigued again to see exactly what calorie totals I'm having currently.

Hi Lowcal, I think the oats so simple sachets are a fairly small portion, one of those with semi skimmed milk is 180 cals or with whole milk 200 cals, then between 20 cals for a portion of raspberries or up to 50 cals for sweeter fruits (excluding bananas as that would be more) is approx upper limit of 250 ☀️

Yes, I think you're right. I usually weigh 30 grams per person of the other oats.

I'm just about to have some coffee and homemade fruit cake - baked some this afternoon and it smells really good!

I have an oats thing that I can organise the night before. Soak a quantity of oats (I do 30g) in the lowest cal nut milk or water you can find; the Alpro long life ones are good value and often on offer; I add 1 chopped dried prune(!these are shockingly calorific) and some cocoa nibs. Soak overnight. The prune and nibs become amazing! If you leave for a day or so, it actually tastes a bit alcoholic! Actually it could be! Better watch that. Maybe a few berries. I often take this to work and eat it later as I really am not hungry at 7 or 8 o clock.

Weekend; often same as it's easier; I am craving bacon currently and there is a bacon sandwich somewhere in my near future and it might be that...... Wow, I need some bacon!

During the week and on Sunday I mix it up between porridge, shredded wheat, betavivo with fruit and yogurt and finally Special K.

On Saturday, however I have a treat of toast and marmite !!!! I am a toast and marmite addict which is why I have now made it a treat only. I must say it tastes so much more delicious when it is a treat ...lol

I eat fruit, today was a banana and a sugar free jelly. Discovered a few days ago that my years of egg allergy may be over. Used to love the bones of an egg then the dreaded Atkins diet created allergies and intolerance to allsorts, especially eggs. At the time, (once all the tests confirmed why I had started being very ill) the doc said it may not be permanent just try every now and then with a bit of white first. I am back on the eggs, pickled as it happens. So it was a pickled egg and pineapple yesterday for brekki. Makes me happy and this is actually more than I used to eat which was nothing for many years until 1pm. Weekend exactly the same, fruit or egg or both ;)

Really glad to hear you're beginning to be able to tolerate eggs again - and now I'm wondering what a pickled egg tastes like, as I admit that although I also 'love' eggs - I've never tried a pickled one. Perhaps I will get some to see what they're like. Do you pickle them yourself, or buy them somewhere? I think I've only ever seen them in Fish and Chip shops in jars.

Glad you're feeling happy, and brilliant news that you can tolerate eggs after many years of not being able to. I think they're so tasty.

:) Thanks for the wishes, yes I am :) The main shops do them, in white vinegar so not as nice as the brown vinegar. You can't rush a pickled egg makes you eat slow and enjoy every little bit ;) My fruit supply has just arrived. Breakfast tomorrow will be as suggested by my doc, his wife swears by them. Small amount of almond milk to loosen it up, banana, couple of strawberries and about 5 or so baby spinach leaves. He said he thought 'yuk' until he tried it and it was very nice indeed. Any fruit can be added in moderation, but the milk, banana and spinach are the key to sustained energy and a total smoothie nutrient hit.

Cooked breakfast everyday:

two slices of Turkey rashers 53 cals

one large fried egg 85 cals

4 sprays of sunflower oil 1 cal each

Total:142 calories and no hunger until lunchtime, especially if I go to gym as exercise stops the hunger for an hour or so.At the weekends add some tomatoes and mushrooms.

Used to have porridge but got hungry sooner after the carbs rush fell away.

I've had scrambled eggs on wholegrain toast this morning, and that was really delicious and filling.

I still find porridge works well to keep me full all morning on weekdays, but I do also add some nuts, seeds and fresh fruit too (blueberries often), and it is very filling and sustaining.

Sorry, I know this is an old post but I have only just seen it.

I am surprised at the calorie count for the tomato is so high. My wee book says 13 for a tomato which is similar to the NHS site.

I think you're right! Thanks for pointing that out, perhaps I rushed the calorie counting - I remember using Myfitnesspal to get the results that day, but maybe I inputted an incorrect measurement or something like that. Thanks so much for letting me know, I will amend the amounts and use your total of 13 calories - glad it brought the total amount down rather than up!

Hi all,

Breakfast idea!! - A little trick from slimming world.

'Use silicone bun cups to bake' - this will stop the recipe from sticking.

Make a mixture of beaten egg, salt and pepper.

Line the cups with lean bacon or ham.

Dice peppers, onions, spring onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, asparagus - any combination that you like to fill the cups. The pieces need to be diced quite small.

Then fill with the egg mixture.

Sprinkle some grated cheese on top and bake for around 20 mins. (they fluff up lovely)

A variation on this is leave out the meat and place salmon on top of the veg and cover with the egg - bake as usual.

These bake as quiche without pastry.

When I had my mojo I used to make these for work, I don't have time for breakfast but these individual little treats are fab if you get caught short mid morning. I just used to ping them in the microwave for a few seconds.
