Hungry after gym

So I have finally started going to the gym twice a week for an hr(yea go me) but after I am finished I'm sooooo hungry and I'm letting myself down by going home to eat crisps, biscuits and cakes. Advice needed on what I can do to stop the fatty cravings.

You may need the extra calories to compensate for the extra activity, Bubbaloz, so check that you've adjusted your allowance.

You may be mistaking thirst for hunger, so make sure that you're re-hydrating properly.

If you know that you're going to be hungry, make sure you have healthy food on hand, rather than resorting to empty carbs.

Maybe it is just that you are more thirsty after the exercise. Sometimes people think they are hungry, when really they are just thirsty. Do not allow yourself to eat anything until you have drunk at least a bottle or glass of water e.g maybe that you take with you to have afterwards. Sometimes water can remove the feelings of being hungry. You could be surprised.

Don't make the mistake of assuming that you need to eat more because you're going to the gym. This is highly unlikely and is the reason why a lot of folk find they get fatter when they take up exercise.

Have a bottle of water with you at the gym to sip on as you work.

If possible remove all crisps, biscuits, and cakes from your house :)

Try to time your gym visit so it is just before your breakfast/lunch/dinner, so you will be able to fill yourself up with the good stuff after you exercise!

Reward yourself not with food, but by adding another gym session on the path to your goal of being fitter and slimmer.

I totally hear you on that and yes, I often would binge after gym because I was fatigued and food-vulnerable and figured tomorrow was another day.

I have to go to's that I now eat most days which feel like I am treating myself but are MUCH healthier than the chips and chocs I loved.

1. Skinny Tzatziki with crackers. I eat half a 200 gm tub of it and really load up 7 or 8 crackers its only 100 cals for the tzatziki and maybe the same for the crackers. Seems like heaps and feels quite naughty when its actually not.

2. Banana ice cream. This is addictive and REALLY filling and really rich - its one of those ones you can eat with a teaspoon and feel satisfied - I'll post the recipe today but..

4 frozen bananas

4 tbsp peanut butter

Splodge of honey

Cup plain low cal yoghurt (maybe a bit less - I don't really measure it)

Blend it up until smooth.

I divide into 3rds, have one straight away and the other 2 I freeze.

YUM!
