Hi Ebod28 and welcome. One of our friendly volunteer administrators will be around shortly with all the information you need to get started. I just want to say that the NHS 12 week plan worked wonders (or actually not wonders) for me. Give it at go.

Hi and welcome, Ebod :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news

Take a look at the 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate

We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey

Welcome to the forum and good luck. Keep on posting :)

Hi Hidden welcome to the forum. There are some recipe ideas here on the topics sections and there are actually some recipes that are available on the NHS general website too. I do occasionally do these too.

It is not worth majorly restricting your diet against items that you know you will want in the future as it is best to look at this as a life change in eating habits not an actual diet. Otherwise you will go back to all the items gradually you are restricting and then put all the weight back on. Make sure you do something like start to have them once or twice a month but count the items into your calorie intake. It will all be ok then.

Also make sure you do eat somewhere between the amount of the calories that the NHS calculator tells you to have to help lose weight as it does give you about 300-400 calorie choice. This will sound strange but if you don't eat enough calories like I never used to you will put weight on because your calories will get turned to body fat instead as your body thinks that you are trying to starve it and needs to make sure it has enough power to continue. Eating less doesn't help us lose weight it makes us put weight on because fat actually weighs more. I now eat more food than before and actually finally am losing weight compared to before when I never seemed to lose any.

Good luck and all the best with your journey 🙏🤞😀
