Hi I am 37 years old and have always struggled with my weight since I turned 19. I currently weigh 15st 8lb and need to lose 5st plus to have a healthy BMI! I am quite frustrated as I exercise 3 plus times a week at the gym / biking / swimming and walk! I keep a check of my foods etc using my FITBIT and am always within the green with my eating to lose weight, but the scales never change!...........however I possibly under eat and on the wrong food..... possibly....I DO! There I have admitted it and as somebody who suffers with anxiety and depression I over eat and comfort eat. Never before have I admitted that! I have got up today had a long hard look at myself in the mirror which isnt easy......as I was stood in just pants and bra.........instead of going down my normal down route though....I went downstairs and got a bowl of fruit and vowed to make this the first day of the future.....I have sat and read the NHS 12 week plan....have got a note book with my BMI (33.1) and stats written down and hopefully.....will succeed! I will lose weight and will eat healthy! I know exercise alone doesnt work.......

Hello AnnieMary and well done for having the courage to express yourself so honestly. You have taken a big step in changing your lifestyle and pointing it in a new and positive direction.
From what you're saying you're now doing the right thing. The NHS 12 week plan is fantastic but then I'm biased.
I wish you all the best and now you've been able to open up on here don't feel concerned about doing so in the future as all you'll find here are thoughtful and helpful people.
Hello and welcome AnnieMary ☺
You have taken that first most important step, are accepting the journey you have to make and are being accountable ☺ three most important aspects of weight loss ☺
Have a good look around the site as Rose suggested, and ask if you have any questions or would like a Newbie badge ☺
Best wishes
Anna
Congratulations AnnieMary this truly is the first day of the rest of your life, the hardest bit is probably over. We can all be good at fooling ourselves, it's self-preservation. You are now amongst friends who understand the issues with trying to lose weight and regain health.
There are tons of inspirational folk on this forum, and this is my only social networking experience, make the most of their experiences, ask questions and join in posts.
I too am struggling to lose weight and beat the BMI monster. My metabolism is shot to pieces through not being able to eat when ill so I am not really losing any weight at the moment - but, and it is a big but, I am walking almost daily, my trousers are loser and my belt tightened by three holes - I'll take that for now as I feel much healthier.
I always cook from ingredients and do not use really prepared meals. It is what I used to do until work got so busy I sacrificed me and my health, well now I am back on it and work will need to be fitted into that "work-life balance box."
Have a look at the Happiness Challenge on the pinned posts section, it is really positive with everyone saying such good things it is infectious.
Enjoy your journey, Take care Ceals x
Hi AnnieMary , your introduction was inspiring... I truely wish you great success to move forward with your new journey and see the honest picture of you... A true one. All possibilities are yours.. one day at a time. Cheering you on...
Hello AnnieMary , not so very long ago I could have written your post. I went to the gym 3 times a week and did Pilates once a week. I was tonned but still weighed 15 nearly 16 stone. I thought I watched what I ate and for a while I really did and lost around half a stone and put all back again. I'm almost 55, I have yo-yo dieted for years and have struggled with depression and anxiety and empty nest. I joined in January after a health scare and discovering two of my children are expecting their first children this year. I'm so glad I did. It was a huge step. You've done the right thing and you already sound as though you are organised and know what your doing, make sure you eat enough. I upped my calories from 1,300 to 1,400 and twice a week I have 1,500. Now Im loosing weight. Keep posting on here, we are a supportive bunch, somebody is always here to answer any questions. Wishing you good luck.
Thank you all for your lovely comments! Am just having a look around the site! We can do this together! I will keep you all posted! Am loving the look / fell of the site / group! I feel supported and feel I can be honest! I have planned my weeks meals and have done a weekly shop, the fridge is packed with lots of fruit and veg, yoghurts etc! Fingers crossed...........even caught my daughter dibbling into a box of carrot sticks and baby corn I had boxed for nibbling!
