Hiya

New to weight loss regimes. Started 12 week programme 4 weeks ago. Since then numerous family factors have caused great stress. Nothing that can be done on that front, however how do people cope when trying to keep a regime of eating healthy and exercising when out visiting hospitals, as being away is so difficult, not having the comfort of my kitchen and able to do my exercises when I can is playing on my mind.

So far lost 2 inches off waist, brought bmi down from obese to just inside normal and BP down from 158/ 94 to 122/77. Don't want to get back into old habits.

Need to get fitter. Weight loss is part of this programme, but after a health scare in the new year my kids have inspired me to start looking after myself again. Long time since I did any real exercise, approx 19 years ago and I was then really fit and skinny then. Don't want that level again just want to be able to enjoy life without worrying re health.

Thanks for any suggestions x

Hi Micshee, sorry your having such a trying time. You have done so well in a short time. I had a couple of years running between two hospital with both our mum's a few years ago. I'm trying to think how I would cope now. Take your own food if your going to be there over a meal time, when your cooking bulk cook and freeze so you have some meals to call on. Cut back on housework to give yourself some time (if will still be there when life is restored to 'normal'). If you can grab 15 minutes try Leslie Sansones 1 mile walk on YouTube. Delegate wherever you can and be kind to yourself. Don't try and be super women/man - it's just not worth adding any more stress. 😉

Thanks, will look the 15 min walk up and bulk cooking, great idea, so stressed simple things go a long way... Why didn't I think of that. X

LIFE will always get in the way and test us.. but try to plan the night before.. take a packed lunch with you and bottle of water.. maybe make some extra tea that you can use for your dinner the next day.. When you are at the hospital take the stairs rather than the lifts ! park a bit further away so you can get a walk in...

Main thing dont be hard on yourself as you are trying your best but at the moment things are hard for you... just keep making small tweaks for now until things get back to normal x

Hi Micshee. It looks like lucigret has pointed out a way forward to you that you like the idea of.

I just wanted to add how well you're doing despite the turmoil that you're going through. To have lost those inches, brought your BMI and BP down whilst coping with stress and then be mindful enough to post for assistance not only shows great strength of mind but also keen self awareness.

You're doing great.

Thanks, mindful that it's easy to get caught up and forget to look after yourself. I'm sure there are plenty of others who pile weight back on due to stressful situations and not thinking out the box.

Simple measures sometimes are required. Now preparing food for slow cooker and freezing!!!

Morning Micshee

Like you I have spent a lot of time visiting hospitals and find their café food and drink very high in calories. So I now have what I call my hospital bag which is a bottle of water, fruit and so Go ahead type biscuits at 146 cals. This I take with me each time and helps keep me within my calorie allowance then I eat a healthy meal once I'm home.

Well done with losing 2 inches off your waist and bringing down your BMI and BP.
