Hi everyone, hope you are having a good weekend, I am back on track today after eating out yesterday evening, not proud of it but I hadn't eaten out with friends for quite a while, so don't want to beat myself up about it. I find it so difficult not overdoing it when out in a social situation when there's food and alcohol! The interesting thing is that even though I enjoyed the food while I was eating it, I ate so much of it (something that I woul not have even worried about a few months ago) that I felt pretty unwell afterwards sooo bloated and heavy! If I was to add up the calories I had just in one sitting I am sure I would be horrified, and yet it is so widespread this way of eating/drinking...on balance not worth it really...Next time I go out I am seriously going to work on enjoying the healthiest option on the menu with a single glass of wine...

The challenge of eating out with friends
Oh well. I hope you did at least enjoy the time spent with friends and at the end of the day, it was one meal. You can beat yourself up about it but it won't help you so just try to learn something from this experience and then you will have at least achieved something from this experience. You could try to minimise the damage by eating super healthy and clean for the rest of the week and maybe fit in a little more exercise? I think it would make you feel a bit better either way.
Hi Salud-forgood. Like you've already agreed with Sazkia, don't beat yourself up over the one event.
If you haven't already, have a look at Week 7 of the NHS 12 Week plan. Its all about dining out and various coping mechanisms.
You are not in a bubble. So there will always be eating out and alcohol and parties. It is important to remember this are events not a lifestyle. You on the other hand are on a health journey and you changed a lot. Be positive and remember you're not loosing or falling. You are changing. Good luck for a nice healthy week.
Thank you Ribaka I agree dealing with this is part of the journey. It reminds me a lot whe I gave up smoking over 10 years ago and initially I had to avoid certain situations but gradually I managed to be able to socialise again as a non smoker and not had a problem with this since (again planning is our best tool to succed). Thanks for all your responses 😊
