Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news
Have a look at the 12 week plan, as many people have been successful following it. It is intended as a guide to healthy living, to teach you how to make better choices yourself, rather than just giving a list of instructions. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate
Although the majority of our daily weigh-in's are now quite full, we still have spaces in Sunday's and, you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
go to the NHS weight lose plan and you will find the BMI calculator, use this to find out how many calories you are allowed to eat per day. Above this is a calorie counter, you put your food in the search box and it will tell you the calories. I just have the meals I would usually have, obviously cutting out or reducing the stuff that we know we shouldn't be having. I can't cut food out completely as it makes me crave it. I find it much better to be able to have what
sorry submitted before I meant too! I find it much better to be able to have what I want within my calorie allowance. Make sure you have plenty of fruit and veg and drink plenty of water. You may need to spend a bit of time just looking at other people's posts and working out what works for you. You will find it helpful to write everything down. Everybody on this forum is very friendly and happy to help so if you need help, just post on here. Good luck with you weight lose journey jashby3000 😀
go to NHS choices live well section then healthy-eating link and there is an easy meal app you can download. For some reason I can't get the hyperlink set up for the web address you need! You can also download it to your phone- I've got it on my iPhone via the app store but not sure how you do it via other phones. Good luck with your weight loss challenge
Also check out MyFitnessPal it's a free app which helps you count and log calories, with a nifty bar code scanner function ... I'd be lost without it!! Good luck, you can do it 🌻
hello & welcome .... I also use my fitness planner to log my food and i put in everything I eat (yes...everything)... it's also really easy to plan what your are going to eat for the next day as well which is really helpful.
Hello! Welcome to the forum, it's nice to have you on board!
Eating plenty of fruit and veg is usually a good bet - berries preferred because it's not all about calories but the TYPE of calories...so try to limit fruits high in sugar...berries tend to be quite good for that. Being mindful and calorie counting may help you; just remember to count the calories in EVERYTHING - sometimes people forget the calories in spreads and drinks or forget they snacked and then wonder why they're not losing weight, so perhaps you would benefit from a food diary and be brutally honest about EVERYTHING you consume. This is also a good way to see clearly where you're going wrong, maybe snacking is the main contributor for your calories or perhaps the majority of your calories come in the form of sugary drinks or alcohol. There is a section on this site with tons of info and advice.
I changed my eating habits myself as I wanted to stick to it. I know more about what I can eat and what I can't. My god, there is piles of sugar in baked beans and other products. I went into my local Tesco one day and asked for natural yogurt without sugar. The girl was very helpful and suggested certain ones. But when I told her how much sugar was in them, her jaw hit the floor. She said she had been eating them as part of her diet and would go home and bin them. You obviously can't read labels all day, but if you use more natural ingredients and make your own food and sauces, then you will cut out a load of bad stuff.
i have great difficulty negotiating the pages on this site, so i tend to just stick to this community- it easily slows up; this site- have had two awful high call days, and feeling bad about it, so i was looking up my bmi which is 39.63 and even if i lost 10kg, however many lbs that is i would still have an BMI with an obese rating of 35
, so today instead of driving i will bike and that includes up atleast 1/2 a steep hill in crystal palace.
