Hello all you lovely Daily Diarists. I hope you're happy with your progress so far and have planned your meals for today so I can steal some from you. lol. Very sorry for posting late today. I know a lot of you like to post early but visitors held me up today.

Welcome to all you newbies posting for the first time. Just tell us what you plan to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner and any snacks. Thank you Morgancando for hosting Friday's DD. :)

Active_43Healthy BMI

Thanks Morgancando , am skipping in the right direction tonight after having a lovely compliment from my gym instructor/friend 😍

Positive vibes for tomorrow:

B. Eggs on toast

L. Halloumi and salad wrap

D. Fish pie with mash and veg.

Exercise. Always busy on Friday...gym, dog walk and yoga.

Snack. Banana and almond milk smoothie.

Total. Approx. 1800

Happy Friday 🕺

Morgancando1st 7lbs in reply to Active_43

That's fantastic! Compliments are such incentives aren't they?

I see we have similar menus today. I've had the halloumi in the fridge for weeks! It's a good job it has a good shelf life just remembered I've got some wraps in the freezer so I might steal your idea and use that too.

Have a great Friday.

Active_43Healthy BMI in reply to Morgancando

Mine is a scrape around job as I haven't made it to the supermarket tonight. There are always wraps in our house 👌

wysemonkeyRestart July 2020 in reply to Active_43

Hi Active_43 that's a lovely menu, fish pie is so tasty. Enjoy all that activity, and have a brilliant Friday!

Ceals3 stone in reply to Active_43

Always great to get a compliment, and I am very sure you deserved it.

There's a thought I could do halloumi with my lettuce wraps - thank you for sparking that Active.

Enjoy your busy Friday.

Trying three meals today didn't work for me so back to two tomorrow.

Brunch: 128g lamb neck fillet (slow cooked then crisp fried), Avocado, 100g cos lettuce, 100g spinach. 734 cals

D: Chowder (no thinking on a Friday thank goodness). 661 cals

40 g homemade Macadamia nut butter 144 cals.

Total: 1683 cals range 1685 - 2037

Carbs 39g; Fat 124g; Protein 102g.

Enjoy your Friday everyone.

Morgancando1st 7lbs in reply to Ceals

Ha! I knew you wouldn't disappoint. Your menu is delicious as usual. Must try fish chowder. Watch this space!!

Hidden in reply to Active_43

Delicious menu, I love the sound of all of it!

Ceals3 stone

Thanks for hosting Morgancando what a fabulously uplifting poster.

Absolutely love the sound of your lunchtime salad. In fact everything sounds absolutely my kind of food.

Enjoy your walk, hope you get sunshine again.

Morgancando1st 7lbs in reply to Ceals

Thank you @Ceals. Looking forward to hearing what you're having, you always have food I love and give me such great ideas.

Ceals3 stone in reply to Morgancando

I think that is one of the great things about DD, so many ideas from others and everyone is so willing to share.

hi morgancando, your menu sounds nice. I tried cauliflower rice tonight, which a first for me, but it was ok. Children were a bit suspicious, but they ate it. Lucky I googled how to make it as I was going to cook the cauliflower then put it through a potato ricer. Tomorrow I'll be having

B- overnight oats with peanut butter and seeds, half grapefruit 450

L- will get something from the supermarket, but stick to 400. Your lunch sounds good, might copy that

D- meatballs in tomato sauce with sweet potato chips 397

snacks - orange, apple, carrot 100

tea and coffee 100

total of 1447, short of 1700 target, so might have piece of cheese if I get hungry or glass of wine in the evening if I don't

hope everyone has a good day

Morgancando1st 7lbs in reply to rutheliza

I've only recently found cauliflower rice and find it really nice. You can add spices to give it a bit more flavour. The rest of your menu sound delicious.

Hope you're enjoying the forum. It's been good seeing you around.

wysemonkeyRestart July 2020 in reply to rutheliza

Hi rutheliza your children sound delightful - a bit suspicious of the cauliflower rice but they gave it a try! I haven't got round to trying it yet, not sure about how well my insides do with cauliflower at the moment. I hope you all enjoy the sweet potato chips - so much nicer than boring potato chips I think, and that you get your glass of wine.

Ceals3 stone in reply to rutheliza

Sweet potato chips are so delicious. Hope your children enjoy them.

So pleased you looked up how to do cauliflower rice or i think you would have ended up with cauliflower mash!

Morgancando1st 7lbs in reply to Ceals

Actually cauliflower mash sounds interesting!!

Ceals3 stone in reply to Morgancando

Think it is wysemonkey who has a fab recipe for a cheesy cauliflower mash.

Morgancando1st 7lbs in reply to Ceals

I wonder if it's on the recipe thread?

wakywoo1 stone in reply to Morgancando

I put it on there. Love cauliflower cheese mash!

Morgancando1st 7lbs in reply to wakywoo

I'll have a look for it.

wakywoo1 stone in reply to rutheliza

Mmm meatballs sound delic!

wysemonkeyRestart July 2020

Hi All, and thanks for posting and your great poster Morgancando your menu sounds really tasty - particularly the hotpot.

Breakfast: Apple, brazil nuts 220

Brunch: Ham’n’eggs, vegetable soup, rye bread 450

Dinner: venison casseroled with carrots, celeriac, onion, herbs, lots of garlic and sherry. Runner beans, small amount of rice or sweet potato mash 450

Snacks: beer and peanuts! My local pub has Smokey Bacon flavour peanuts! They’re even better than the Crispy Duck flavoured ones that they had a few weeks ago, the barman called me “cynical” when I got very excited about them last week. About 400 calories probably, but it is Friday night.

Exercise - I really have to try to get back on the exercise horse today - at the time of posting (thurs eve) I'm still very snuffly but much better so my excuses and reasons are running out, even if I'm not quite yet. So: Rebounder and strength session at a gentle level that won't wear me out.

Tip: Onwards ever striving onwards....

Ceals3 stone in reply to wysemonkey

Goodness, where have I been - smokey bacon and crispy duck flavoured peanuts!

Hope you get better soon and really feel like some exercises.

That venison casserole sounds just wonderful.

Morgancando1st 7lbs in reply to wysemonkey

Oh wysemonkey what a delicious sounding menu, especially the venison casserole. Do you have the recipe? Hope you're feeling much better tomorrow but don't over do it.

It always feels like I'm posting my DD on the run!

B - eggs (poached or scrambled) and mushrooms, 215

L - spicy carrot and lentil soup, Peters Yard crispbreads with butter, 420

D - HD pot-roast beef and veg, cabbage, 570.

This leaves 600-700, so I will definitely refine this tomorrow!

Morgancando1st 7lbs in reply to Hidden

Sounds great Hidden. Those HD guys should be paying us for all the publicity they get on here. Love the sound of carrot and lentil soup. Is that a HD recipe too?

Have a great day and be sure to get those calories in throughout the day.

Hidden in reply to Morgancando

Yes, the soup is another HD recipe!

We have a cake sale at work this morning, I expect some of those calories will end up there :-D

Morgancando1st 7lbs in reply to Hidden

Enjoy the cakes but don't go overdoing it. lol

I had a good day today. Actually consumed almost 2000 cals. Range is 1691-2174. It does feel a bit strange consuming so much food but, I will have to see how I get on.

Total 1694 leaving some spare to use as an afternoon snack

Exercise - 45 min swim

Morgancando1st 7lbs in reply to dazzle

Mmm! Any invites dazzle. The pan seared cod loin sounds gorgeous! I know it seems to go against the grain to have such a big calorie allowance after being brainwashed into thinking we have to cut the cals to lose weight, but it works. I think you'll be very surprised when you weigh in next.

Good luck

Ceals3 stone in reply to dazzle

Fab food or what dazzle , every last bit of it–move over Masterchef.

Hope you like the Macademia nut butter, I think I am addicted.

Thank you for hosting Morgancando love the poster.

Morgancando1st 7lbs in reply to Lalab1

Welcome to the DD Lalab1. Hope you find lots of inspiration on here to help you achieve your goal. Your menu today sounds delicious. I notice lots of us are having wraps today.

Really hope you have good news soon regarding your treatment and that it's successful for you and hubby. It'll be so worth it in the end especially as you have such a good reason for losing the weight.

Stay strong, take one day at a time and the very best of luck.

Ceals3 stone in reply to Lalab1

Sounds like lovely food planned, love the accompaniments to your omelette.

Lalab1 in reply to Ceals

It was perfect comfort food lol 😂 xx

Ceals3 stone in reply to Lalab1

Just what is needed sometimes.

HappyBeee3 stone

Great menu! Love the breakfast and lunch! Gimme!

I'm trying to keep cals low today as I have a very indulgent dinner party tomorrow. So im aiming for 800 maybe.

B - coffee and a yoghurt (80)

L - simple side salad, half a tuna pack (120)

D - Small bits of a greek mezze I'm making for me and P to celebrate a week done of work. Baked feta bouyiourdi, griddled chicken skewers (for P), tomato onion salad, fresh baked bread, olives, tzatziki and dressed houmous. Might even blow the budget with a glass of Greek wine I've dug up. As long as Im under 1500 I don't mind.

Hoping by next week I can lose 2 pounds so I'm trying to keep average daily at 1500 and today is day one.

Tips- one I need to remind myself - don't lie to yourself about what you're eating. If you've had unplanned butter on the roll, oil in the salad, 5 chips from OH's plate, a sneaky jaffa cake at the cupboard, 3 rice cakes while on the phone, handful of peanuts while making dinner.. these add up and not recording them does an disservice to yourself.

Morgancando1st 7lbs in reply to HappyBeee

Wow HappyBeee what an amazing menu! That dinner is to die for. I've never heard of feta bouyiourdi but as I love feta i'm sure it'll be good. Enjoy your dinner party and the wine especially.

Great tip. It's so easy to pop things into your mouth without thinking. I've been known to weigh out my food and eat the excess!

Have a great week.

HappyBeee3 stone in reply to Morgancando

They did a lot of baked fetas and bouyiourdi type things, it was to die for. I'll just put a slightly spicy tomato sauce on some foil, layer on feta, stud the feta with a mix of slow roasted tomatoes, fresh rosemary and oregano, sprinkle of oil and bake in the foil for 15, then 15 uncovered. So simple, but faintworthy good.

Have a great week too!

Morgancando1st 7lbs in reply to HappyBeee

That sounds amazing HappyBeee. I'll definitely being trying that. I've got all the ingredients in so It'll be on my menu tomorrow. Thanks for sharing.

Ceals3 stone in reply to HappyBeee

Sounds amazing

Ceals3 stone in reply to HappyBeee

You are so disciplined with keeping calories low when you decide to go for it HappyBee. Really not sure I could be as restrained.

Such an important tip - a good reminder.

HappyBeee3 stone in reply to Ceals

Thanks.. trust me I'm not disciplined but it usually keeps me below binge-level if I plan low!

Ceals3 stone in reply to HappyBeee

First know thyself! and you certainly do!

I am late as usual

Breakfast cornflakes and a banana with skimmed milk. Coffee. 300calories

Lunch home made soup 2 slices bread with little butter 350 calories.

Dinner Chicken with carrots and swede, little mash. Gravy 450 calories.

Snacks 2 easy peelers and a Apple. Skimmed milk 150 calories.

I have done some walking around and a little shopping. Now I am helping my grandson pack has he is moving to his new place this afternoon . Then I will do a few days food planning, and then do some shopping.

Now I will be looking at what everyone else is eating and then I will get some ideas from you all.

Morgancando1st 7lbs in reply to Caroline62

Well done for planning a good menu today Caroline62 . With all you've got going on today that's an achievement in itself.

Hope you manage to settle into a good routine for yourself now that your Grandson has moved out. I'm sure you'll miss him but I'm sure he will be fine. You certainly are a Super gran but it's You time, from now on.

Have a great week.

HappyBeee3 stone in reply to Caroline62

Hope it all went well today! If youare open to advice I'd suggest that there is a big lack of healthy fat in your plan! Swede and carrot for example are really healthy but the human body can't really absorb their good stuff without fat. Butter for e.g. should help. Or even better a really good Olive oil drizzled over. A little avocado salad along with your soup or dinner. Or a full fat yoghurt aftrt your breakfast... just a wee reminder that fats ain't bad, in fact they're really necessary. Sorry to butt in if you weren't on the market for advice 😆😙

Another weird day. When I get stressed or emotional the bad food is eaten!! Mind a run has so helped today.

B: my protein shake with almond milk 2x fruit toast with butter

L: pub lunch for a leaving do. Southern chicken wrap coleslaw some chips not the whole portion. Cappuccino.

D: chiili chicken salad tortilla chips sour cream cheese

S: mcmillan day!! Maple danish and huge brownie! Crabbie ginger beer

Exercise: 3.8 mile run and walk

Total cals: not sure but over 2000 :(

Morgancando1st 7lbs in reply to Lalab1

Hi Lalab1 sounds a like feast of a menu. You're making me hungry for a Maplel Danish!

As long as you're within your calorie range you should be fine but it's so easy to go over if you haven't counted them. The exercise should help though.

Try to plan you're meals carefully the night before and allow some extra calories if you know think you might go off plan.

Good luck this week and have a good weekend.

Ceals3 stone in reply to Lalab1

I do so like Ginger Beer.

Ceals3 stone

Many thanks to Morgancando for hosting a wonderful Daily Diary, everyone will be eating so very well tomorrow!
