Hi all, I downloaded myfitnesspal today just to input calories somewhere on my phone when I'm out. According to MFP my calorie allowance is 1,370 the NHS BMI calculator gives between 1696-2180 so I'm a bit confused with which one to follow. I imagine the NHS one? Thanks. X

Hey Starkatx, I think I know whats happened. When I logged into my fitness pal account it asked you your weight and goal etc but THEN it asked for how much weight do I want to lose a week. So if I put in something like 2 pounds it brought down my total cals i could have each day. Whereas putting in 1 pounds a week was BANG in the middle of nhs's guidelines for my gender/weight/age.
Oh dear, I looked further and another part of the site suggested I have 1260 cals a day to lose a pound a week pretty confusing isn't it.

Hi starkarx,
I would always advocate following the recommendation of the NHS BMI calculator and eating as much as you can, while still losing weight. Have a look at this for a comprehensive explanation
