Hi there Jayney, I find I get hungrier the following day if I have eaten a big dinner. I try to stave off hunger by drinking water. You are doing so well and your diet (which you described in a previous post) does look really healthy. Keep going x

See below from a website someone here flagged up yesterday.

"Mistake: You don't eat enough

You need to cut calories to lose weight, but it's important not to overdo it. Going too low delivers a double whammy to your metabolism. When you eat less than you need for basic biological function (about 1,200 calories for most women), your body throws the brakes on your metabolism. It also begins to break down precious, calorie-burning muscle tissue for energy, says Benardot. "Eat just enough so you're not hungry—a healthy snack midmorning and midafternoon between three meals (about 430 calories each) will keep your metabolism humming." By eating a meal every 3 to 4 hours, you'll stay satisfied and keep from overeating later in the day."

I've upped my liquid intake. Loads of tea and water. It's really helped me.

Hi Jayney

I have found that adding whole grain foods to my meals has kept me fuller for longer. Hope this helps☺

Hi Jayne61

I wonder if you have a sugar addiction, I know if I eat any kind of sugar I just crave more.

It may be worth experimenting with a week off sugar. Including processed foods, fruit and wheat.

Fill up on vegetables grown above the ground. Xx

I think that is a lot harder than you think, I have been following the TV programme of celebrities on a total sugar free diet, they are finding it hard and the side effects can be bad, but they have all the help around them, I am alone, but I do take it on board thank you

If you want to change your diet a lot, it's probably a good idea to do it gradually to give your body a chance to adapt.

I gradually swapped all my sugars for sweeteners. I used to have 2 spoons of sugar in tea. To start with I changed it to 3 sweeteners. It was slightly sweeter than sugar but this was so that I would drop it quicker to 2 sweeteners. I done this with every other tea I had. This made it easy to do. Then again I have dropped it to just 1 sweetener by having it every other tea. I am currently trying to drop it to no sweeteners. I now don't have sweetener or sugars on cereal anymore and I certainly notice things that have sugar on them a lot and have gone off a lot of them. This might help you. I never thought I would be able to do this but just pushed myself to try it and it has worked.

I'm similar, moved from two sugars in tea to using sweeteners now for about two weeks a have also stopped using the sweeteners. I have noticed some differences especially my skin looking fresher. It is hard to get used too but I don't think I'll be using anything to sweeten my tea again.

well done it must be great not to have anything added to your tea, but, do you actually still enjoy a cup? honestly

in reply toJayney61

I enjoy it but not as much, it tasted very bland when I quit the sweeteners, but it does seem to be a bit better now.

well done you, I was on 6 sweetners per cup, down to 4 per cup struggling to get to 3 at minute, but will keep trying

I'm not sure if this helps Jayney61 , but my biggest battle is stopping eating once I start 😮 I struggle to know when I've eaten enough. I plate up my 'portion' and could quite easily eat it twice!!! I believe this is because the 'hunger' hormones are sluggish and out of balance. 😕

Tricks I am trying are eating slower and chewing more thoroughly. Then slowly peel or chop an apple or an orange for dessert. If I'm still feeling hungry, which I know must be 'appetite' not 'hunger' then i have to distract myself and leave the kitchen (I always eat in the kitchen not the living room). ☺

On the plus side, It is getting easier ☺

Good luck

It takes a while to get used to eating less 😕 I also have some days when I'm hungrier than others.

I need to use all my calories for maximum satiety or 'fill-me-up-ness' ☺ wholemeal bread/pasta, baked potatoes, chicken, beans and pulses, porrige alongside the fruit and veg, and avoid sugary snacks as they are so calorific and just don't fill me ☺
