Cookery books for slimmers

Does anyone have any recommendations for cookery books for people on a diet? I'd like to be able to cook some tasty, healthy meals, but I got rid of my recipe books some time ago when I realised that I wasn't using them. (Too tired to cook after work, amongst other reasons.) Now I have time to cook and I don't have any recipe books. The ones I had were bought in the days before healthy eating and weight loss were a priority, any way.

I'd prefer the books to be available on Kindle as I don't have room for any more printed books. Plus it's easier to wipe splashes of a tablet as long as you don't let water get near the workings. I'm tempted by The books by The Hairy Dieters (The Hairy Bikers after they'd lost a lot of weight.) Any thoughts?

I've just got one of the Hairy Dieters books as it was highly recommended by a few people. I'll be trying it out over the next couple of weeks. The recipes look great.

Hi there, I highly recommend the Hairy Bikers, I have the books, they are always a hit with my family and guests. They are good 'hearty' trusted meals that taste just as good (if not better) than calorie heavy dishes.

I'm sure you can buy them now from supermarkets for around half the price as they are a few years old now and contain great guide pictures.

Hope you enjoy!

Amazon are selling The Hairy Dieters books on Kindle for about £6 each. That sounds like a reasonable price compared with the £15-£20 that some print books cost. I think I'll treat myself to a few of them.

Hubby sometimes does the cooking, but he does 'concoctions', throwing in whatever comes to hand. I prefer to know what I'm going to cook before I start, hence the need for recipe books.

I got all the 'Hairy Dieters' books and absolutely LOVE them!!!!

As I have a fairly fussy family I use the yellow book the most, but all are great!

The family's favourite are chicken tikka, pan haggerty, kedgeree, ......

What I really like is that most the recipes are easy to cook, and really taste lovely (which a lot of my slimming world recipes don't 😉). You won't be disappointed 😊

Also very good is a book by Justine Pattison from the 'without the calories' range. It's 'pasta and rice without the calories'. Very tasty recipes- I was so impressed that I ordered more of her books, but sadly didn't find the recipes so good. Luckily I bought them used on Amazon, so not payed full price.

Ooh, a curry recipe. Hubby and I love curries and I thought we'd have to give them up because of our diet. Is that in the yellow book?

Yes, but to be honest, all book have curries, chinese, etc

I can honestly say that the books contain 'real' food, but I haven't worked my way around all the recipes yet. I found the yellow one suited us as our family the most, but all books are great 😊

The tikka masala in the yellow book is easy, made from scratch, can be pfepared in advance and to die for! I couldn't live without curries 😋

I don't use the cream but add a little(!) creamed coconut instead, the curry itself is 273 calories itself and I eat it with lots of veggies 😉

Hairy Dieters eat for Life has several super delicious curry recipes. There is a whole section entitled Saturday night Takeaway in the book, which is calorie counted versions of everyone's favourites. Will be a winner as far as Hubbysmissmouse's Hubby is concerned. 👍
