I have lost 3 stone and I am feeling good but I am nervous about Christmas. Don't want to say no to everything but don't want to go overboard either. Still got 9 stone to lose.

Life on a paleo diet
I feel the same way, I dont want to say no to everything but know I cant deprive myself of enjoying the festive season and offend family or friends, I find you can indulge here and there so long as you limit it in some way.
I am giving myself a 48 hour window but will still try not to eat in between meals. I am going to have a good Christmas dinner. I am trying to swim every day until Saturday to lose as much as possible before then.
good for you, how do you find paleo? I calorie count so was just curious
I hate calories counting and writing things down so it works for me. My diet consisted of loads of processed food with rice, potatoes and bread so it has totally changed. I am actually enjoying cooking for the first time ever. I found with calorie counting I tried to eat small quantities of junk and still felt hungry. Now I eat lots of the right stuff although admittedly some of it is a bit dry and bland.
No need for it to be dry and bland. Have a look for some new recipes?
Try using a smaller plate. I find it really works. You get used to smaller portion sizes and still feel full up! I don't intend to deny myself anything on Christmas Day, but I know I am not going to sabotage my previous efforts this way.😋
I am practicing maintaining for 2 weeks over Xmas. After all, we will all get to that point, so having a couple of weeks like that just keeps it all in perspective. In reality for me this is no snacks between meals, so I'm not calorie counting either just staying mindful. I hope it works, as this is a sneak preview of the end point!!
Happy Christmas
I fear there will never be an end point. Once I lose all my weight then maintaining will be a forever task! I will enjoy Christmas though
Yes. Maintaining is a forever task, but it becomes second nature. You continue to eat the healthier foods but also re-introduce a little of the high calorie stuff, just less of it, so that you lead a totally normal social life with meals out, drinks, birthdays etc. After losing 2st , Ive since been maintaining a bmi of 22.5 for two years. Whats different is that you learn strategies such as One High Calorie Day then Two Low Calorie Days , you look at a weekly picture rather than meal by meal.
Thank you for this reassurance. I will look forward to reaching that point - hopefully by summer 2017! What you say makes perfect sense and does give me hope!
