Friday weigh in.

Well actually no Friday weigh in as I have felt the need for a break. With Christmas party do's I won't be able to do anymore than try and maintain and no doubt gain! So the plan is to try and remain as controlled as I can over the festive period and then new strategy in the new year to kick start some weight loss again. Has anyone had any experience with slimming world?? Just a thought.. I hope everyone else's week is going well . ☺ Signing off now till January so happy Christmas. x

Don't give up on yourself there are still a few weeks to go before Christmas you could loose what you may put on before the festivities don't give yourself a bigger mountain to climb. If you are partying or eating out make sensible choices. If you do have a 'blow out' it's only one and you can regain control. You can do it,!

Thanks. Very wise words. My conscience wouldn't allow a big blow out plus I like the slimmer me. Happy Christmas 🌲

Hi Juliet,

Like you I'm just hanging on and ' maintaining', but at least it's a conscious decision! 😀.

I have done slimming world in the past, for me it did not suit, but I know others who love the plan and have been very successful. It's about finding a plan that's right for you and can live with without it ruling your life !! Lol

It's been a really difficult year for you so it's right to have a breather, relax and take stock. I look forward to our 2017 journey, wherever it takes us xx

Enjoy your time off work and very warm wishes to you and your family 🍾🍾🐾🐾🎅🏻🎄

Hi Juliet!

Great to see you!!! :-) I hope you're feeling festive and happy. I think your plan to try and maintain over Christmas is an excellent one! :-) With plans to kick start weight loss again in the New Year - really good!

I've not got any experience with Slimming World, except that I have bought their magazine sometimes, and I really like the recipes in the magazines, as they are very tasty.

Happy Christmas! Looking forward to catching up with you in the New Year!

Lowcal :-) xxx

Hi Lowcal,

I do like the magazine, it has some great recipes and I'm a sucker for the before and after stories. Just like our site 😀

Yes, I agree, it's good to read about people's successes - and it's great that we have lots of those to read about here in the forum too. :-)

Going to try the online site but will still weight in here as everyone is so lovely and supportive ☺

Hi there :)

I feel your pain with Christmas party do's etc. as I know it is really hard to stay motivated (I gained when I weighed today, and feel really irritated) so I can understand wanting to give yourself a break :)

I am trying to carry on, even though it is so disheartening to gain this week (and last) but LAST Christmas I gave myself a break and gained 7 lbs ish, and didn't manage to lose that until April! In hindsight I wish I hadn't given up. I'm only giving myself Xmas day off this year :) I'm trying to view it as "Christmas comes every year, but my weight loss needs to be RIGHT NOW", but it's a very individual choice :) and if you feel like you need a break - then this is the right decision for you, and hopefully you can come back in the new year with a renewed sense of motivation. If I was going to give you advice, i'd say to continue to weigh yourself. You don't have to post it, or record it - but once a week is a good check, otherwise like me you could suddenly realise half a stone has appeared without you even noticing!

I've done Slimming world by the way. I did it from April (or June? it might have been June) 2015 up until June 2016. It helped me get into the right frame of mind with the correct food types to eat, what to avoid or limit and how to cook from scratch. It stopped working for me and I think portion control was the problem. I lost 2 stone and a bit on Slimming World, and then just maintained or gained and lost for the last 3 months that I did it. That's why I decided to try the NHS 12 week plan instead - and I realised I was eating 800 calories of pasta a time without ever pausing to think I might be full. :) So I think Slimming World is great, but keep portion control in the back of your mind while you do it. Some people find it so freeing and a lot easier than weighing and counting. So good luck if you try it :) have a very merry Christmas! :)

Merry Christmas to you too. Lots of good advice , thank you. My conscience doesn't really allow me to completely relax and I can tell when the weight starts piling on. I can just feel rubbish which I hate. I will try and face the scales over the festive period . Haven't decided the new year plan but NHS certainly worked for me first time and will see what slimming world offers. Will have a good look round and try and find new healthy recipes. For me, getting my dog helped me. They say exercise is always the best way to keep healthy so hoping for lots of festive walkies. Good luck with your weight loss journey too ☺

I base a lot of my principles of healthy eating on slimming world and try and stick to it. I always lose when I stay with it too. Keeping to heathier normal not large sized portions- yes others are right, avoid fatty foods and processed foods and what really works for me and is probably why I lose is the fact that I limit myself to only a small amount of - bread 2 slices of wholemeal a day so that really helps me. I also include what they call speed food which helps burn calories of quicker and does seem to work for me - These include most fruits ( not all ) melon, apples, pears oranges not fruit juices though strawberries, plums and most vegs Potatoes are free to eat but do not speed loss up. You would need to become a member to see all bit as I have been in the past I keep all the books to refer to sometimes they do offers and just joining for a few weeks helps to boost you !

I also do what they call Body image Exercise !! That helps burn calories of.

All of which gets me in the right frame of mind and being on this forum doing the possitivity challenge to me has seemed to be the last bit of the jigsaw.

At the end of the day just keeping possitive really has helped me start losing again.

Have a merry Christmas x
