Hi and welcome Susdav :)

I suggest you read this, to see why it's so important to eat the right number of calories :)

Hi Susdav , I'm presuming you are talking about the NHS BMI calculator which should provide you with a daily calorie range. If you want to lose weight you should be eating at the bottom end of the range. When you lose that first half stone you need to recheck your recommended calories range as it will go down with your weight. If you've downloaded the NHS 12 week plan you'll see on page one that it states "...losing weight at a safe and sustainable rate of 0.5kg to 1kg (1lb to 2lbs) a week. For most men, this will mean consuming no more than 1,900kcal a day, and for most women, 1,400kcal."

Good luck with your weight loss ;)

Yes,but that is why I'm confused .the 12 week plan say's 1400 calories, but the BMI says 1765 calories so which do I do ????

Follow the BMI.

I had the same thought yesterday. The BMI advice is based on your results instead of an average so better for you.

Just remember to regularly check your BMI so you can change your calorie intake accordingly.

However it is just a guide. Try to make sure you don't get hungry as that won't help you lose weight. Just drink plenty of water and have healthy snacks.

I'd start at the 1765 and see how it goes - once you lose half a stone redo the BMI calculator and see what your new range is - it will obviously go down. Once you are in a healthy BMI range the calculator does not give you a calorie range so perhaps the 1400 is a universal figure for weight loss. Hope you lost some weight this week :)
