It has certainly helped me BridgetWaterloo. The support of other members of the forum is always there when you need it and the collective wisdom you can gain from other members of the community is quite amazing. It is also wonderful to feel that you can help others.

The most important thing I have learned is that long term change doesn't come in the form of a "diet" that you jump onto and then come off again at some point in the future. It is all about making changes to your lifestyle that can be sustained for the rest of our lives so that the weight stays off. It is about finding new, active and healthy pastimes; learning to like new, healthier foods and adjusting to smaller, more sensible portions of foods.

I have found that my whole way of life has changed and I am no longer holding onto my old ways with the intention of taking them up again as soon as I reach some mystical "target weight". I couldn't have done any of this without the support of the lovely people on this forum.

I'm sure you will get a proper welcome from one of the fab5 before long but until then, welcome to the forum.

Good luck and keep posting x

Hi BridgetWaterloo,

There isn't really a 'formal' welcome on the forum, as it's a shared thing that we do as members of the community, and I'm thrilled to see that you've already received a welcome from members of the forum - it's a supportive and friendly place, and I hope you'll enjoy participating here. Our Welcome Newbie post is really helpful - and it's in the Pinned posts area, and within that you can read about many of the things that people in the forum find helpful.

We have a Monday group weigh-in, and again, details of that are in the Welcome Newbie post. There are lots of Challenges going on in the forum currently, and you will find details of those in the Pinned posts area too.

I would like to Congratulate you on losing 4 stones - I know you're re-gained some of that weight now, but you've still maintained a loss of 1.5 stones, and hopefully you can focus on your goals and hopes for going forward from now.

Good luck and hope you find the support you need - we would certainly like to support you in your journey, if you'd like to join us.

Lowcal :-)

Something I try to do when I'm feeling unsure and doubtful is focus on past successes 😊 You have proved you CAN lose weight so you know you will do so again 😊 Good luck and best wishes

Thank you Anna, I feel amazed that so many people have been in touch, the support was the key at sliming world so this is really helpful to me. bests Bridget

I also did slimming world and lost, it is the comradeship of being with a group of people all in the same boat. I just slowly fell away from SW because the group I was with moved to a earlier time and working with shift work going to different groups, cost and I like the fact you can log in here any time ☺
