Noooooo.........

Had a dreadful week stress-wise (Mum unwell over last weekend and taken into hospital on Tuesday.) Exhaustion doesn't even begin to cover how I'm feeling. Not much change in what I was actually eating but obviously not much movement going on and also sleeping really badly. End result = two extra pounds on scales yesterday and today (sometimes they appear and then disappear the next day!) Looked all around to see the extra bag of sugar that I was carrying in my pockets but given that I was as nature intended (!) I didn't have any pockets to hide it in ..... Brought home the actual effect that stress and exhaustion can have on my body - you would think that I'd know but there again I didn't take much notice. Goodness knows what I will weigh on Monday but not going to be too sad and will try to move a bit more today and tomorrow. Have a good weekend everyone wherever you are.

p.s. Mum now home and except for a very badly bruised hand where the cannula was inserted, better than me!!!

Hi Mary-Lou,

I'm so sorry to hear about your mum and your subsequent stressful week. I hope that now your mum's home and feeling better, you'll be able to relax and get some, much deserved, rest. :)

It is sadly true, that stress and weight loss generally do not go hand in hand. Try not to worry about monday's weigh-in, instead, concentrate on giving yourself some, much needed, TLC :)

Wishing you and your mum, all the very best :)

Hi Marylou54, Sorry to hear your having a bad week and that your mom is unwell, hope she will be feeling better soon. When family life gets stressful it can be very hard to stick to the healthy eating and exercise to stay on top of things. Try to give yourself some "me time" where you can relax and unwind a little from all the stress. Don't worry too much about the extra 2 pounds you will soon get that off again once the stressful time as passed. Hope you have a good weekend.

Hi Marylou54 😀 Sorry to hear about your week but I'm glad your mum is home and feeling better 😆 sounds like she had a nice relax in hospital while you absorbed all the stress and anxiety. Don't worry about the tiny 2lb. Your wellbeing, happiness and sleep are all important factors in weight loss too. Just take care of yourself this weekend and you may be pleasantly surprised come weigh in on Monday. Thinking of you. Claire x

Thank you Claire for your reply. Mum was so determined that she would come home ASAP that she turned into another woman! ! :-) :-) She is amazing for 95 but even so I am having work started at the end of next month to move her in with me so that I can keep an eye on her. Or maybe she can keep an eye on me ..... ;-) Take care.

I feel for you Marylou. I had a similar week a few weeks ago. My dad is 84 and I was accompanying him at hospital while he had some tests. He reacted badly and started shaking and went as white as a sheet. Ended up being admitted as bacteria had got into his bloodstream. Very scary, and that day I spent 10 hours at the hospital mostly waiting with my very confused and disorientated Dad.

I hope you start to feel better, I'm sure you will soon be back on track, and glad to hear your mum is on the mend. :-)

Thanks for your message. I can deal with all sorts for myself but it is difficult with someone you love. Spent Monday at home with her waiting for an ambulance which never came (lots of emergencies that day) and then 12 hours at hospital on Tuesday for her to be assessed and then admitted onto a ward..... The staff were all very nice but it was all very tiring for both of us.

Hope your Dad has recovered too from the ordeal. Take care

Sorry to hear your mums not bee well ,hope she's feeling better soon , don't worry too much about the two pounds I'm sure you will soon get rid of them take care :)

Hiya, im sorry your mum and you had a bad week. Being stressed this week was natural and unavoidable, so dont worry about it. Life is unpredictable. Having a blip on a scales is not nice but i woukdnt even think about it. Congratulate yourself for getting through the week instead! Especially because it actually sounds you carried on eating normally, which is great.

Hope you and your mum recover very soon. Xx

Thank you for your good wishes. Whilst this week was an extreme version, life for me is constantly stressful with mum, son and my own health issues and I guess it just catches up with me. Take care.
