Hi Shaz,
You are NOT a failure - you have done really well over the year, please challenge that thought of yourself as a failure. You have done really well to get your weight down, and I know you're struggling a bit in the 13's now, but your total weight loss is good - and you've done well to get to this point.
You mentioned that you saw your nurse today, and that she's referred you back to the Lifestyle Hub - what does that mean? Did she give you any specific guidance to help you go forward?
Shaz, don't let this get you down. You can still make progress - and we're here to encourage you, so do stay with us and I would like to wish you a good day and a great week ahead.
Lowcal
its where they check your weight and ask you what slimming group you would like to join for a couple off months with coupons, thanks you for the support x
It sounds like a good idea, Shaz - might help support you if you do that. But I still think you're doing well.
Hi shaz1968
You are only a failure if you don't try so you are certainly not one of those. I don't know what weight you started at but at 13.6 you can do this. I started at 17.1 the heaviest I have ever been, now I am 15.10 still over 2st heavier than you so don't despair lets get this job done all of us together. The only alternative is stay as you are to me that's no alternative.
Think of something you want to aim for just till next week 2 lb off, up the steps, if you lose weight by next week put the equivalent in a jar keep adding £1's as you loose it's a little motivator to help you along.
It is hard to change your lifestyle when you have spent so many years not bothering but it is something that will only benefit in the end in weight loss and lessening the chances of different illnesses. Keep posting how you are doing, need advice so many lovely people on here to help you.
Good Luck, maybe join the kilometre zero challenge it is a good motivator!
Pound for pound idea really grabs my imagination - will use that as part of my motivation and then I can get something nice for my grandson as well as giving him a fitter healthier Nanny!
I have put 63 x £1 coins in a jar ( actually I have more than that to loose but they won't all fit in) so this is my phase 1. I have another jar weight lost. Every 2 weeks I move the amount of weight I have lost from my to loose jar into my lost jar I can see the movement from one to the other and see my progress so far. ( I only weigh every 2 weeks as I get obsessed with the scales)
Your grandson will benefit from a healthy gran the money is for YOU to buy yourself something nice so whenever you look at it you can remember your weight loss journey and your success. Good luck Bev
Thanks Bev - that sounds like a good plan. I always think I should get something for others so this will be another new thing for me Am amazed at how much change the decision to lose weight is bringing! Def heading for a new me at this rate
You go for it Marylou!
I have spent too much time constantly looking after others and not myself even had horrible things said to me for my efforts and you are right, as we loose weight I have noticed I am not a walk over anymore, becoming quite the assertive older lady (56) but loving for once taking control and thinking about myself more (selfish but if I don't do it no one else will).
Enjoy your new journey I am sure your grandson will enjoy the more energetic nan, you will soon be treating yourself more with new clothes etc. 👗👕👠👙
Loads of changes to the way I see myself and also relationship to others and their needs in recent times but was not aware before of connection between being doormat and my weight. Not any more!!! Am a bit older (62) and if I don't do things now then when? You must also realise that it's not about being selfish at all but thinking and honouring yourself and your needs. Makes me feel guilty sometimes but I have to get passed that. Thanks Bev - we can do it!!
Yes you are right we can do this and feel less guilty too! I think losing weight is just giving me a little more confidence to say no to requests from family where as before it was "ok I don't mind". Power to us older ladies we are on a mission to improve😊👍
Hi Shaz,
Don't give up - we're all in this together. Have you done the twelve week challenge? I've just restarted as only lost 6lb - then recently regained it all lol
I gave myself a kick up the backside and signed up to the Autumn Equinox Challenge as I'm determined to ditch this last 20lb.
Don't fear - my heaviest was 16 stone and I'm now just under 11 with 3lb to go to healthy weight and roughly 20lb to go until my preferred weight.
You can do it, just take it day by day and if you mess up, start again the next day.
We're all here to support each other. Good luck 👍
