Saturday started oh so well. I did a 70 minute "power walk" with Jarvis my staffy, he's my personal trainer Had a sensible lunch, scrambled eggs & wholemeal toast. Then the rot set in, gave in to my sweet cravings (which always follow my lunch, Why???) So off to the shop I went & bought a multi pack of Bounties, a pack of almond tarts, choc ices & biscuits. I'm so angry, disappointed with myself. Why do I undo all the good work that I do walking, exercising. It's like nothing else matters, I get this feeling of achiness , tiredness & a feeling of being cold, which, in my mind, will only be satisfied with something sweet. Then post binge I feel slightly better until the guilt sets in. Its like a continual circle that has been going on for years. I wish I could exercise some willpower
Grrr!: Saturday started oh so well. I... - Weight Loss Support
Grrr!
Hi Suzie
I don't think will power has much to do with it, think our bodies crave sugar fir a reason, either emotional, or I suspect after a long walk like yours, it is asking you to eat sugar so it doesn't have to go to all the effort of using up stored fat!. grrrrr! Do you eat before you walk? I have a banana and a few nuts first thing in a morning, before I exercise, then at least 50 -60 g of low GI carbohydrate after, like you, toast and egg, ussualky, plus if I really need it some dried fruit, apricots or dates. If I don't, I get sweet cravings all afternoon!
My evening meal is more protein and veg based, so I don't go over on carbs.
Good luck fellow dog walker 😊🐾🐕

Hi Anna
I think you are probably right. I am an emotional eater, boredom mostly
I have my breakfast before I go, usually porridge, shredded wheat or Weetabix ( I've given up sweet cereals). My problem is that once I start to eat I can't seem to stop! I also lack a lot of motivation to do something else instead of eating. I sound like a right wimp, I'm not, honest
But Saturday is a weekend so it's natural to feel like a treat, it's finding a non food treat that's the problem!! I am the same with the eating, but gradually learning to eat less . . . And like you, need to keep busy . . . I do a lot of sewing, you can't stitch and eat!!! 😂😂😂
I have learned to crochet this year, I make blankets for the dogs in my local dog's home. I also have just taken up colouring, I love it. I have lots of stones to lose before I get to a healthy weight & sometimes I feel overwhelmed by it all
There was a post on here by telute about foodforfitness.co.uk - (a blog and podcasts) with some really inspirational stuff. I highly recommend looking them out, 😊 All about forming good eating habits, about enjoying the actual weight loss process, about step by step progress, lots of stuff, really good.
And, of course, there's always someone on here who had been through it or is going through it! And you can't type and eat!!
😊
That sounds very interesting, I will certainly have a look. Part of my contingency plan is to spend some time on here every night. I think I'm going to re think how I am tackling this. I can't keep doing the same thing, falling into the same trap & getting nowhere
I'm the same, Saturday is very tempting to keep nibbling, even when I know I don't really need to eat. I've found that ploughing into the housework helps, especially if the other half isn't around as then I tend to sit and vegetate in front of the television with him. Alternatively, I do tend to disappear upstairs and start embroidery of some form or another, although I'm currently practicing sewing for the home. Once I'm engrossed, I'm fine.
Ps just a thought, but as you're vegetarian, are you careful to get enough protein? If you don't you will get hungry 😕
I don't think I am to be honest. I use the MyFitnessPal app & it does a macro breakdown of protein, carbs & fat & my protein intake always seems low, on average below 20%. I eat eggs, cheese & quorn
I use Aldi lighter cheese, its the nicest lower fat cheese I have tasted. I have had chick pea dahl but never used them in a salad etc. I love hummus, in a jacket potato I even like cottage cheese!!!! I shall, as part of my "me" project, start to look at cooking a few simple meals.
Look at it this way IF you hadn't done all the hard work beforehand then eating sweet things would have had a worse effect! We are our harshest critics at time but are only human
Take one day at a time ! We all cave into eating things we know won't help us lose weight - just regard it as it blip.
Maybe incorporate a piece of chocolate into your diet to satisfy those sweet cravings after lunch ? Or maybe a sugar free jelly ?
I had some craving yesterday but the sugar free jelly did it for me ...lol
Don't give up - you can do it !!
Hi MagsC. Thanks for your positive reply. I must admit I am quite hard on myself if I think I fail. I have at least 4 stone to shift, so this is going to have to be long term & taking one day at a time is very important. I'm going on holiday in 10 weeks time, so I would like to have lost a stone by then ( 2 weeks all inclusive😮) The sugar free jelly is a great idea. I will try that, if I can find one without Gelatine in, as I'm vegetarian 😊
