Hi there!
It's fine, you're not alone! This is my first time on the site after 10 months!
It's an awesome space for like-minded folk. You'll have so much fun losing weight, especially when you start fitting into your old clothes again!
Acknowledging the problem is the first stage.
Have you heard of the 12-week NHS weight loss plan? I'm doing it again just starting today (Mon 14th)!
No , where do I find out about it? And thanks for the reply.
You may have already found the 12 week plan. If not put in Google NHS weight loss and there will be a section thats for 12 week weight loss plan! It's very helpful and will guide you through your weight loss
I'm in exactly the same boat. Have gained 7 kg over the last 6 months or so through mindless overeating and drinking. Even struggled in the garden yesterday with the spring warmth. Going to download the 12 week plan and get my lazy backside off the couch. Here's to all of us !
Snap, since Jan have been attending Zumba & Pilates classes, managing to do between 8000 & 12000 steps per day but not got my head around my out of control eating , now weighing 11st7lb. Then on wednesday knelt down, pain shot through left knee swelled up above kneecap. GP advised rest & to loose weight gave me a low fat diet sheet to follow. Just feel awful, annoyed at myself. I fly to Tenerife on Good Friday dreding it, no summer clothes fit. Ideally i need to loose 25lbs but if i can't exercise, my mind is not in a good place. Think i need a good kick up the backside, sorry for the rant, if you find your motivation please share.
I have spent many years in the past putting on weight while "dieting". What I have learned through being successful recently is that you have to actually do it. And that requires some planning. So start writing down everything that goes in your mouth. Even just doing that will cut out some of your intake. At some point you will think why am I writing it down, if I'm not doing it fully? Perhaps plan 3 breakfasts and make sure that you can always have those breakfasts no matter what. Maybe your next step would be to plan 5 lunches for weekdays. You would now be more than half way there. Just keep taking these baby steps until more than 80% of your intake is planned. You should see some weight loss with that. Nothing succeeds like success. When you find you are actually losing, you will be a successful dieter. Although exercise is very helpful in making you more healthy, you can lose weight just by managing your intake. So you could leave planning exercise till later, if that would help you.
Welcome and read this post it has everything a newbie will need. All the links to nhs 12 week plan etc. You can do this.
Hi Coistra,
Yeah I've done all that too, work shifts so eat whatever is at hand, now find myself with around 4-5 stones to lose. However I joined the posts here and folk are so supportive so you will not feel alone.
I put my first weigh in up today on the Monday weigh in post which was a daunting thing to do as weighed in at 15 st 6lbs, I'm no good at kgs 😜 Got nice responses back.
So join in and enjoy the support you'll get through your journey.
I also just joined the 4th July challenge to lose my 10% goal which is 22lbs.
Good luck and keep us posted.
Gonaslim😉
