Hi all! I am hoping to lose around half a stone per month til September when I start uni as a mature student. I am 4 stone overweight and have recently discovered I am anaemic and also that i will soon have to start taking daily medication for hypothyroidism, which runs in my family. i plan to walk on our treadmill as my main form of exercise (I have a dodgy knee from an old injury) and I know need to increase my daily water intake too. Any other tips or motivation would be very welcome :)

Bad news about the hypothyroidism.

I am verging on it so am trying to avoid getting there.

try breaking your 4 stone goal down into more manageable chunks.

For example - what would you like to have lost by Jan 31st?

There is an app called the myfitnesspal app which is awesome for tracking your food and very easy to use - a lot of us use it.

Good luck - there is heaps of support here and we're all here for each other.

Thanks for your reply Dave :)

I would like to lose half a stone on average per month, so maybe 3.5 lbs by Jan 31st.

I have decided to really go for it this time. I am feeling very positive about losing the weight. I recently got offered a place on a very oversubscribed degree course, so am in the mindset of if I can do that, I can do anything! I want to be free of this 'fat suit' I am hiding in!

Good luck with your journey :)

Hi Bigbex,

Welcome to the forum, and hope you're having a good week so far. You've set yourself a great first target - losing 3.5 pounds by 31st January is a great target. You are sounding very positive and determined, and that's a great mind-set to have. Congratulations on getting on your degree course, I know you mentioned it was over-subscribed so great that you got a place!

If you'd like to join us in the Monday group weigh-in, you'd be very welcome. Hopefully you saw mention of this group in the Welcome Newbie pack that Moreless gave you the link for.

Whatever you decide to do, have a wonderful weight loss journey experience, and hope to see you around and about in the forum.

Lowcal :-)
