A miracle just happened...

What's happening to me? I just came back from a party - lots of buffet nibbles, then a big chocolate birthday cake (slice presented to me on a plate ready to go). I ate a few nibbles, I had a little slice of cheese, I chatted a bit and tucked into a few carrot sticks, I ate half of my chocolate cake...it was lovely. Hid the rest on the piano. And that was it. No deprivation or "being good" - I was just full.

Hallelujah! It happened. I did the half thing, I left leftovers, I didn't even need to make sure I was at the other end of the room to the buffet...!

I feel strangely disorientated :-)

Off now for a lie down to recover.

Good night lovely people. Have a happy and healthy weekend!

Hi Running soon. That's really impressive, I still can't say know to birthday cake (or any cake!). Well done, keep up the good work ☺

in reply toJo-belle

It was a lovely cake - made by one of the ladies (ironically a lady known for her prowess in the running club!). It was quite a "thin" party if you know what I mean! May have helped on reflection!

There you go, thinking like a slim person :)

Well done you :)

I am looking forward to some repeat experiences of this phenomena...! It was certainly a lot easier than depriving myself of everything - or skipping the party for that matter!

Well done, the lifestyle changes will form new (and healthier) habits.

I have lost my old habit of grazing while cooking, eating snacks between coming home from work and dinner and snacking on the kids leftovers 😁

Congratulations on surviving a birthday party the healthy way 😊

in reply toElissy

Thanks Elissy, I will be very chuffed if I can feel confident that this is a long term thought correction...! Fingers crossed.

Congrats. It's weird isn't it, but I'm sure others were doing the same! In fact I notice now when people are going back for more and more, and I wonder do they really want more or are they just eating because it's there? Hope you reconcile yourself to this new development, it sounds pretty ace! :)

I am trying to cope Ruth - but my smugness may be slightly overwhelming....!!! :-)

I will be happy when I achieve that! Well done you 😆

It's just around the corner for you too I'm sure - this certainly was not me a few months ago. If you knew who I was I would not admit to the hotel buffet gluttony of my summer hols for example. But "new me" is cheaper to keep!

Good luck to you.

Good on you. You are a winner.

in reply tonhs2015

Awww! That's kind. But I know I wouldn't be doing nearly so well (or doing anything more likely) if I was on my own in this thing. Thanks for your nice comment.

well done you that's willpower

in reply toskinnylizzie

That was the odd thing - it wasn't - I just didn't want it... That's why it was a bit unnerving! Perhaps I am ill!

I can sympathize with that...lately I don't need Fitnesspal to tell me how many calories is in what, I feel them while I am eating it !!! It's amazing how we can rehabilitate our appetite with only a few weeks discipline... Nowadays when I have a bad day and eat more than I should, I feel congested and uncomfortable, but it's nowhere near as much food as I used to have. There's no more hiding behind unawareness with excuses such as 'I don't know why I am fat, I really don't eat much!!'.

Well done on you by the way, but no celebration with extra food! ;)

Teehee! Actually just back from overnight hotel / Sat dinner out / enormous breakfast buffet this weekend. Bit creepy but I did it again - shared my starter generously with two others so that there was just a nice taste of a few things (whilst the lads tucked into the full works), sensible main and then too full to contemplate pud.

This morning I just had all the fruity stuff, ordered scrambled egg - but when it came it was a bit rubbery so went off it and abandoned it half way through. No piano to hide it on this time though...!

I agree about the finding the "appetite edges" again - and I have to say "this" - on here with all the other helpful people - is working where slimming clubs never have done. I always ate to the "rules" then - now I eat what I want and I feel I may be starting to achieve thought correction!

It feels weird but lovely. Thanks for your encouragement!

I have to learn from you to have more self control. I was away now for a week and put on 3 lbs and that is why I hate going away. I put on so quickly and takes me ages to loose it. Well tomorrow I am off to the supermarket and stock up with fruits and veggies and will stop noshing and back to drinking only water and walking.

in reply tobakersdozen

Can you really do without tea and coffee?! I think they are central to me, when I am full of nice hot drink I don't seem to hear the call of the cake tin nearly so clearly!

I know what you mean about holidays though. It's a shame if you can't enjoy your break because you are worried about the consequences on the scales. But you do sound as if you have the bit between your teeth again - well done and keep up the good work! I hope your week goes really well and that the weather allows you to get out and about on your walks as planned.

I had a great time the only problem was that I ate to s of wrong food instead of healthy and now I know my problem I just fill myself up with fruit and veggie and throw out nosh. Which I did not have any healthy stuff but what is don is done.
