I felt in need of a treat today. So I skipped breakfast - yes I know bad bad bad but I wanted to splash out on lunch. I had small piece of steak griddled with mushrooms and my homegrown tomatoes fried in a small amount of butter. Home grown green beans. AND a portion of Eliane's chips. Eliane was my best friend in France and nearly three years now since I was her neighbour, I still miss her very much. Well her chips are made from potatoes cut to size, parboiled, rolled in stone pressed rapeseed oil, salted then baked. I have a halogen cooker and do mine in that. It was a great meal and I finished with a Nescafe capuchino 60 cals but a nice end to the meal.
I was collecting blackberries and sloes this morning, so I am now a fully qualified member of the blue hand gang! I have made sloe vodka - in mind much better than sloe gin - and the blackberries are frozen along with parcels of Bramley apples for treats to come.
For those of you who like doggies, here is Toby singing for his supper.

Hi Sybyll, i love dogs and the piccy of Toby made me smile. So thankyou. I usually make sloe gin but i might give the vodka version a go. Sounds like a very nice lunch and that you enjoyed it. Which is the main thing. 😊
Sounds like a fab day. I would have skipped breakfast for that lunch, it sounds delicious. Think I may have to give the chips a try! A friend of mine makes sloe gin which is lovely, though I don't like the shop bought variety at all 😃
Well I am afraid the naughtiness continued tonight and I have had apple and blackberry crumble with Dream Topping. Now at 10.18pm I am sitting here with the strong urge to have cheese and biscuits but fighting this manfully or rather 'womanfully'!
Both my spaniels are a great delight and are such strong characters. Toby is a Field Spaniel and a really big boy - think labrador with shorter legs. He is always up to some mischief; he loves to run off up the garden with slippers and has a special hidey hole under one of the trees. Toby is very into his singing and strangely has rather a high voice while Mr Boo who is a Golden Cocker and much the smaller dog, has a deep basso profundo and it is hilarious when they sing together.
I must be good tomorrow as Monday is my weigh in day.
My neighbours in France were more like family. They used to knock and walk in. If I was eating they would sit at the table and the protocol was that you gave them a portion of dessert and a coffee when you got to it. I was very happy in France but in my late 60s I felt the need to come home.
No neither spaniel has a problem sleeping - Toby at the foot of the bed and Mr Boo pressed up against my back.
