Making it real....

I have had an up and down few days... I know my targets about 2 stone but have decided to be specific and go visual! I have two cups, one with 28 stones in it and the other ones empty. Every time I lose a pound I can move a stone to the other cup and then as I gain momentum I can see how well I've done and also hopefully feel it too! However, despite everything I have had a good day today, I have had herbal tea, healthy breakfast, soup for lunch and vegetarian spaghetti bolognaise. Looking forward to many more good days. I'm going to start the C25K next week after kids have settled back in school.

hi Lucas, glad you had a good day. Great idea about a visual system! Let's see you move them stones! Yeah!

I like the stones idea. PortlandPrincess was talking recently about the psychology of telling ourselves we've 'lost weight', and that our subconscious then thinks we need to find it again. But with this idea of moving stones from one cup to another nothing is lost, it's just re-positioned. The weight is transformed into achievement or something - I'll leave the philosophy to Dave1961 I think, not my strong point. But there's definitely something philosophical as well as visual about your stones and cups method :)

I love this idea of using stones! My goal is to loose 1 1/2 stone, and I think this would be a great way to motivate me to stick to it.

I really like this idea. I LOVE that you can tell yourself you have lost a whole stone every time you drop a pound :)

And @Ruth thinks too highly of me - I am afraid I have nothing philosophical to add.

I hope there is a great reward waiting for you at the bottom of that cup!

Your food for today sounds excellent. Do you use zucchini strips for the vege spag bol or pasta?

Hi, no, just wholewheat spaghetti but I like the idea of zucchini strips. That would make the meal loads better too, as well as being healthier. Thank you for the tip!

Its more like zucchini straws - I was trying to set up a bit of a low carb website thing for awhile and this was a recipe I adapted.

This is a low carb recipe so it doesn't adhere to low fat or low calories - its purely about the carbs :)

Hi Lucas,

Like the stones cup, wish I had thought of it, might do it over the weekend as a visual reminder of where I was and where are now.

Have a great week

Love this idea. I am definitely going to do this. I might get my boyfriend to put a treat in the bottom so when I have moved all the stones I can find out what the treat might be. Thank you Lucas2012 x
