FIRST WEIGH IN....

So last week we had a family meeting with my dad's doc (he has dementia) - whilst there I couldn't help but notice the scales...Having started the healthy start I couldn't resist asking if I could weigh myself (the last time I was weighed at my own doc's I was 11 stone - that was months ago.....anyway the long and short of it was I weighed in at 10stone 3lbs. I was over the moon and it made me more determined and since then I have been 'quite' good.

Anyway I thought I would weigh myself tonight as it was a week since my last weigh-in. I hunted all over the house for the scales, eventually found them, dusted them off, changed the battery for what I hoped was a live one and then..........THEY ARE BROKEN.......so it's off to the shops tomorrow for a new pair! I am feeling so disappointed and apprehensive.

So much for a weigh-in.... Keep your fingers crossed please and thank you in advance.

Good luck to everyone else

Oh how disappointing! If you're buying a new set I recommend doing some research and getting the best you can afford. There is nothing more frustrating when watching your weight that getting on and off the scales and getting a different reading each time. ( I do that and then take the midpoint in the 3 readings!

New scales will be my next investment!

Good luck with tomorrows weigh in!

Thanks very much for the scale tip Yoyonomore.......It is a thing I don't buy often (only once in fact and so long ago!!) I will remember what you said and look into it this minute - take my mind off nice things anyway....

All the very best

I got mine from Argos Mary, only their everyday value ones they do the job just fine and they are quite small as well

I also have the Argos value ones. My tip would be to make sure to buy batteries. Don't want to get your new scales home and realise they won't even switch on!

I am sure you know this but just wanted to add that you should not be surprised if your brand new shiny scales say different to the other scales you weighed yourself on.

There CAN be variances and the thing to do is stick to one set and that way you always know which way you are heading!

And congrats on 8 pounds lost - that is AWESOME!

Good for you! Don't skimp on cheap scales if you replace them get some with good reviews - even cheap electronic ones are inconsistent. You might jump on them get a false reading ad get down hearted - so if you are replacing them spend wisely. (Weight Watchers one are good - Argos!)

My mums dementia is one of my motivations for losing weight - I'm not ignoring health messages any more!

Well done for you!

Thank you all very much for your input - all tips noted. You might like to know that I looked at the WHICH site and was surprised to read they don't evaluate scales as there is not enough call for it l!!!!!!!!

Anyway bought one from Amazon which had good reviews and 5* - now waiting in anticipation.......

Have a good day xxxxx
