Ok, so I wrote a post about losing 7lbs in 5 days; I checked the next day and it turned out I lost 3lbs in just a day?
I haven't checked today but if I lose 4 more lbs by tomorrow, then that would be a stone that I've lost?
Is that normal?

Is this your first week of dieting and how overweight are you?
Define normal, everyone is different. As long as you aren't starving and you are feeling healthy then it's ok. But it's likely to slow down.
Since you have had a change in diet and lifestyle it's going to have a big impact. Feel good about it. Just don't lose faith on the weeks where you don't lose so much. (yes there is some major hypocrisy in that last sentence for which I apologise, but it's still good advice haha).
If you feel anything is wrong with your weight loss then maybe speak to your GP.
That's the weird thing yeah lol, I feel healthier than ever and eat till my hearts content (almost) (as content as veg can make you haha).
Hey, I would like to lose a stone a week pls
Yeah, I'll have to book an appointment once I'm back to my flat in September.
Sounds like you probably don't have anything to worry about. See how you get on next week and you should be gradually losing a bit less until you are down to 1-2lb per week. A lot of the weight loss at the moment will be water due to water retention.
Well done and keep going!
When I started my diet I lost 10 lbs the first week. I have recently lost 11 lbs in 5 days following a holiday blow out so it can be done. Think most of it was water though, don't think you can lose 11 lbs of fat so quick but well done anyway.
It is normal to lose a lot in the first week or two, then it slows down to 1 or 2 pounds a week. I was 15 1/2 stone two years ago, and am now 12 1/2 stone. However I have had a few up and downs along the way.
well done every pound you lose is a pound lighter don't let anyone mock you for your hard work kind regards bigalan
thank you ><
Be prepared for fluctuations, and as has already been hinted at, when you reach your goal, the water tends to go back on. Not sure of the mechanism for this. Good luck and keep up the good work
I am concerned as i have lost a stone and a half (9kg) in 1 week or less.
This happens regularly.
I cant seem to find any searches related to losing that much that quickly ... 2-3 months seems typical and that's for overweight people aiming to lose that much by some kind of intense program.
To me thats 10% of my bodyweight. I regularly fluctuate between 10stone exactly (looking gaunt and sickly) and 11 and a half stone (looking healthy) without usually being able to get any heavier than that even with a great deal of effort. Sometimes the stone and a half rise or drop is over a month or so and sometimes like now, though not often, within a week.
I am a 25 yr old male and have experienced this since my teens.
I am always exercising one way or the other as i do manual work and i have a border collie. I rarely ever take a seat anywhere due to ADHD symptoms.
Nonetheless!! ... My research tells me that a stone and a half in a week is absolutely absurd if not unheard of, without even mentioning that its from 11.5 to 10.
It's not the scales.
Any insight?
(Edit note: Ive seen multiple GPs and been tested for diabetes and blood sugar and all that shabizzle seems fine)
I apologise that my comment might not be in keeping with the site, as i replied straight to the original post from a google search seeing that you were also concerned that you lost weight quickly, before i realised this is a pro-weightloss site.
With that in mind, if anyone is interested in my insight (take or leave it by all means), i believe that the whole calorie thing is a bit of a swizz.
You'll find that you metabolise certain foods remarkably quickly compared with other foods, regardless of calorie content. For example, nonsense foods such as those processed or rife with additives and/or preservatives dont break down easily.
On the other hand, organic foods (not in the profusely marketed more modern sense of the term, but just as in natural foods that live and break down and biodegrade properly) will be used efficiently by your body. These include fresh fruit and veg, proper meat, fish, eggs, nuts and seeds, oils, cereals, wholemeal/wholegrain bread/pasta/rice etc, brown sugar, honey.... you know ... proper stuff!!
And dont forget herbs and spices, and allium vegetables like garlic and onions. Seasonings tend to be superfoods as far as ive found as well as jazzing up the flavour, smell and appearance.
I eat copious amounts of fat as i need to for my lifestyle (seeing as excessive carbs lead to spikes and crashes for me) but its all in the form of, eg. Peanut butter, whole milk, unprocessed meat and fish, vegetables. I use a lot of oil and real butter too, but i dont fry often and when i do its with coconut oil as ive heard it can be heated a lot more than most before it becomes a saturated fat.
You can spot nonsense foods a mile away as they come in silly packaging in the forms of smiley faces, pop tarts, dinosaurs and teddy bears ... that sort of thing. I hated food as a kid. A lot of kids do. Especially vegetables. They were all from the freezer and tasted like rubber and plastic.
Food thats good for you is much more delicious!
Finally, we aren't all born with fixed metabolisms that we inherited and cant change. There are many influences on your metabolism, from the kinds of stuff you eat to your mood, and obviously exercise is the main one.
Keep it real chaps and chapesses x
Hi and sorry to be picky, but coconut oil is saturated fat (at whatever temperature it happens to be). Just saying...
Just a quick note - This is a very old post from 5 years ago that you commented on, it's possible that the reply won't reach the person you are replying to.
This happened to me during my body shape change, I found that the weight returned a day or so later. Just keep at it, it will come off permanently if you continue eating less and exercising more.
