I think its down to metabolisms, although could be down to nature i guess, typically women bear children take care of the home so tend to be more "squishy" for want of a better word, whereas men tended to be hunter gatherers could be something to do with that. What do you think?

Yes you have a point right there. Woman gains so much weight in lower body more especially after giving birth. So do you suggest that maybe will have to follow a different workout routine that is intended for women or does it really matter?

Im not sure, but looking at exercise dvds, womens dvds do like to focus on tums, thighs and bums. But i guess we are all different so its finding what works specifically for us

Men tend to be bigger than women, with more muscle mass to burn calories. Although men tend to lose weight faster than women to start with, women usually catch up.

This is an article explaining what happens, with links to the science papers it is based on.

Hi, it actually depends on the tone of our muscles, some women burn more than some men if they exercise a lot and are very fit. The fitter you are, the faster you'll burn fat. Also, women have fat diposits ready to be used just in case we get pregnant.

I see. So what do you suggest in terms of exercise and workout? Do we need to have our own routine separate from men?

Working with weights is recommended in this case. I don't think it's necessary to have a different routine for men or women.

Women tend to do the shoppping and cooking , so are open to more temptations- eating up leftovers, testing the food for flavour as we cook, picking at the kids food.

Also, men in general are larger framed so proportionately, will lose more than us females.
