Hi all. I'm having the worst time ever with my willpower. I have always been very strong and then lately I have no strength with resistance at all. I know this sounds weird but exercise makes me feel awful and I retain water really badly (I'm hypothyroid). Feel crap, fat and ugly. Sorry for moaning.

The time of year does not help either, as we tend to eat more during the winter months. Boredom probably ? Unfortunately I am on a regime of high steroids and am also disabled, so exercise is not an option . Through sheer willpower (and a nagging partner) I managed to lose four and a half stone last year, but have since put one and a half back on again. Now that the longer days are coming I am hoping to lose that and more.
I bought a book called carbs and cals. This I found a great aid to help me lose weight (along with the nagging partner). I do find that, being fairly house bound, that being on my own for long periods I do tend to 'comfort eat' I am just more careful as to what that is. So now I am eating apples and celery for snacks and porridge for breakfast as the oats are slow release energy plus they lower cholextrol. Then soup at lunchtimes and fish or chicken with couscous for my supper. You can make it a bit more interesting by using balsamic or soy sauce.
Good luck and I hope that all goes well.
Thanks for your post. I too am hypothyroid and have to be careful which exercise I do. I need to get my determination back and stop beating myself with the fat and ugly stick.
Can I ask if you count calories or do you just stick to the healthy stuff?
I, mainly, count calories and try to limit myself to 1200 a day (it can be done!!) but was told that I should limit myself to 1000.
Occasionally I have an 'ordinary day' but that is about 2 to 3 times a month as sometimes it is not easy, when dining out for example, to stick to the regime.
Another tip, do not weigh yourself every day. Try one a week, then when you see a big weight loss it fives you additional encouragement.
