Good stuff. you are looking great.
Thank you for sharing your success story gingernut49. you have done brilliantly and look fantastic. You should rightly be proud of your achievement. Well done. An inspiration for us all.
Reading yours and the other stories within the link you posted has remotivated me.
Over the past 2years I have lost 35lbs. Great loss but it's taken a long time. I know this as I joined MFP on 7/1/13 and use it everyday! Some days I'm good but sometimes not so good but I religiously log in every day. It keeps me aware on exactly what I put into my mouth. I am currently on a run of continuous logins for 454 days. (Lost some day and counter reset to '0' due to holidays abroad and no internet coverage!)
My starting weight 2yrs ago was 180lbs (5ft-7lbs-same-as you) and now 150lbs. (I put 5lbs on over Xmas-was 145. That was the lowest I've been for about 7yrs). I really need to get back into dieting mode as my son is getting married in April and I've already bought my outfit so need to lose the Xmas weight and a couple more pounds to ensure the dress feels comfortable (size 12
I have tried the 5:2 diet before and most of my weight loss success has been while using it. I got lazy and stopped fasting!!!! Just counted calories.
You have spurred me on to get back on it again. It is hard for me on fast days. I need to keep busy in the evenings to ensure I stick to 500 cals. I don't overeat on non fast days either.
This should be a way of life - not a diet for me. I'm a bit lazy I guess.
Thanks again for sharing. You look fab x
Well done. Ill definitely have a read
gorgeous pic
Well done and congratulations on getting your story published, the picture looks great and proof indeed to your success!
The whole feature was brilliant and really motivating. You look fantastic in your pic. Congratulations.
Thank you! If I can motivate anyone at all to lose weight with 5:2 I'll be thrilled to bits!
I've long thought how amazing you are! What a brilliant article and you must feel rewarded in so many ways to be part of it. I'm going to carry you in my head all week . . . . I sort of do the daily 500 cals every now and again, but not on a regime like 5:2. I'm a calorie counter and it's working for me, having lost 28lbs so far. I've taken 2 months off being strict and so far not gained overall so I must have had an inner strategy! ANYWAY, I'm ready today to start the cal counting again to head down for the next stone. I'll build in the fasting days and may contact you for, well, just contact! Congratulations again on all you've achieved!
Hi Gilly, the main factor for me in fasting is for the health benefits with the reduction in risk of cancer, diabetes and dementia. The BBC Horizon programme was called "Eat, Fast and Live Longer," and at 62 when I saw it that was obviously a title that attracted me! My mother and aunts are all in their nineties but I want to be fit, well and active too. Did you watch the programme? It's on iPlayer if you're in the UK tinyurl.com/qzgo7tq or this link tinyurl.com/a8ppjl7 if you're not. Apart from anything else my stomach became flat which hasn't happened before!
Do watch the programme - and many thanks for your lovely comment.
