Hello everyone,i started this today after doing a google search. seems quite good. Just wondering how you all keep track on your daily calorie intake? Do you keep diarys/note pads and write every thing that goes into ur mouth down? Also do you all (females) allow yourselves 1,400 calories a day??. Many thanks.

Hey I stick between 1200-1400 a day calories. I use an app called myfitnesspal its excellent. Has a great search engine and offers a bar code scanner as well to make it incredibly easy to track you calories. You can also use it to track progress with your weight on a chart and your exercise as well.

I personally keep a diary of my exercise and my calories and weight on the app. Dont think I would of kept up the calorie counting without it :-)

Good luck on your weight loss journey

I have an excel spreadsheet. With a page for day-to-day calories, one for weight/waist/calories that week, and one for working out calories in food made from scratch. I like spreadsheets :p

I do put everything down and I rather aim for under the 1400 then have a bit of slack if I desperately feel like a biscuit or a beer.

Thanks guys,i shall investigate the my fitness pal site and possibly use that. Yesterday was so annoying,i was having to write everything down on my pad of paper but also having to search for the item at the same time

saying that though it made me more aware of what i was doing and only had 1,298 calories. I wasn't actually hungry either. I think me and this nhs thingy r going to get along fine

Hi timetogetskinnf!!!! Love that name ( by the way)

So I have tried...myfitnesspal/ lifesum/ Nutracheck which is the best so far( you have to pay for it) and weightwatchers apps in the past & in the early stages of weight loss they are a great help....but I always get into a routine with food/ excersise / mind on the job ect, that it does become habit after a time, allow yourself some treats along the way and yes keep track of cals.....but don't become obsessive about it !!!!! It can RULE you.....I found....

I tracked all my 12 wk plan on my iPad....did a blog...measurements, now it's disapeard !!!!

The nutracheck app I found to be the best ( myfitnesspal is too detailed)...for me.

Keep going and remember this is you now.........not a diet !!!!

Good luck

Thanks June1965 that's some really good advice there. Well so far so good which is a big thing for me as my downfall is crisps. I decided to spruce it up a little and try a new food every week, yesterday i tried spinach. Quite liked it to haha. Dragon fruit is next on the list, not that i have a clue on how to eat it ;)
