I do great most of the week sticking to a 1200 a day calories and walking every day with dogs 30-60 mins and have also started back swimming . My weakness twice a week is a bottle wine lol. Is this going to make a difference and do I have to have 2 days where I keep calories at about 500 to compensate or is the exercise going to cover it ??????? Help!,,,

Alcohol has a negative effect on weight loss. It disrupts your metabolism and means that food will get stored rather than used, while the body deals with the alcohol.

I'm not sure that reducing calories would be a good idea. Any chance that you could reduce the alcohol instead?

If you're going to be doing 5:2 properly then you can have wine on your non-fasting days but is it a good idea to drink so much? Best to dilute the wine into spritzers with fizzy water and make that bottle last a week.

Keep a note of your food/drink intake on MyFitnessPal and you can have up to your TDEE thefastdiet.co.uk/how-many-... on non-fasting days, 500 on your fasting days.

If you want to lose weight then don't eat the exercise calories you burn.

Yep - that has always been my weakness too. Now I have started the 12 week plan I have decided that I am not going to let my wine indulging beat me. What I have done instead is buy a couple of those mini bottles of wine each week (the ones I have bought are quarter of a bottle) so instead of consuming 580 empty calories for each bottle of sauvignon blanc, I have just one little bottle (145 calories) on a Friday and one on a Saturday. I have never made a glass of wine last so long, or enjoyed it so much! I also keep my calories on food to about 800 on those days so I can treat myself to that glass of wine without feeling bad. It's good to have the odd treat as then you don't feel like you are missing out.

I do two early morning spin class's a week in addition to my other classes to enable guilt free weekend wine!

Wish I had energy for spin class lol. I will just have two vodka instead
