Hi just started again on 1400 calories, any one got
Hi I have noticed the same thing with salad. I lost 1 stone 3 pounds a few months ago on the nhs plan I have stayed the same without counting calories for a couple of months, but I am now keen to lose more. My plan as before is to count the calories of what I would normally eat today, (maybe in for a shock) and then reduce or revise what I am eating. Instead of eating salad I am having cooked vegetables for my evening meals. I actually am increasing things such as bread, potatoes and pasta, but reducing fats and keeping an eye on meat. I have IBS so this is really helping me. I am also a month and a half into no alcohol, I believe this is helping a lot! I feel better as well good luck in your weight loss
Thanks for your response . Why should salad effect your stomach it is suppose to be good for you ?
You could try this way of eating to kickstart your metabolism again youtu.be/W9Aj6hRYg4A
I lost three stone in six months with no diet foods or slimming clubs and the weight has stayed off since April 2013. I've never been so slim or so fit and healthy!
Fibre can be soluble or insoluble, and they have different effects on the body, as Huggit has said. Cooking or peeling fruit or veg helps to take out some of the insoluble fibre. I find having olive oil on my salad seems to help with digesting it.
Cutting out bread, pasta and cereals has helped me lose weight. I make courgette ribbons instead of pasta, have a protein breakfast rather than cereal, and go for high fibre carbs from vegetables, like sweet potatoes. I haven't cut down on fat or meat. Different things work for different people.
This link has an alternative approach to losing weight, but you probably don't need the amount of protein recommended.
As some of the others have said raw vegetables or salad don't work for everyone. I have Ulcerative Colitis so I can't eat insoluble fibre such as raw leafy green vegetables like you find in salad at all really as it causes excruciating pain or vomiting. I have found that it depends on what goes into the salad for example I can happily eat a salad with raw red onions, cucumber and cooked peppers mixed with cooked beans or quinoa but if you give more than 1 leaf of lettuce or a raw tomato and I will be ill. So it could just be what you put in the salad that didn't work if you really want to be able to eat salad then find the things that work for you. Also a point if you are trying to make a meal out of it then you need to make sure that there is some kind of protein for example hard boiled egg, a small amount of cheese, chicken or fish. My doctor told me that the key to cutting down on carbs is to increase the protein at the same time as this is what gives you the energy instead of the sugar you find in carbs.
it could be to acid in the tomato?
