Oh I need help! My daughter is getting married 1 year today and I desperately want to lose 3 stone for this. I know it should be do-able if I start now but I'm really overwhelmed by the website - there's just so much to read that I'm going round in circles. Want to start tomorrow but where do I begin?
I would be so grateful for any advice.

Psychologically you want to start today calorie count your food and measure everything that is going to go into your mouth. Aim for 1500-1700 calories to lose 1lb per week. You will also need to increase your current levels of exercise aiming for minimum 30-60 minutes exercise per day. Some experts are requesting guidelines to be changed to 80-90 due to the obesity crisis currently.
Increase non exercise also for instance...when I brush my teeth I march my knees up..sure it's like 10 calories spent???but over a year it will probably burn 1lb of fat.. Multiply this by manually washing up cleaning clothes ironing etc it all adds up! Good luck any questions just ask.
Simple solution - use MyFitnessPal, enter some personal info then stick to the calorie limit it suggests.
When I first really got my head round the fact that I needed to lose weight (9 stone) I spent hours on the internet and found a whole load of conflicting information but the key to losing weight is to reduce calories to a sensible amount and increase exercise. But push yourself for the exercise, to be effective you should be breathing heavily at the minimum. So far I have lost 1st 3lbs and as it's been a lifestyle change rather than a diet it has been slow, it has taken me 10 weeks to get this far, but my bad habits are changing so this is sustainable. Best of all i'm happy and not hungry
Also, find exercise that you enjoy (or at least don't hate) if you like it you're more likely to continue doing it. You don't have to join a gym, buy a decent pair of walking boots and go for it. If it's raining then find something you can do indoors if you don't fancy that walk.
3 stone in a year is completely doable, break it down into smaller targets and don't get disheartened when the last few stubborn lbs take longer to shift than the first easy few, factor that in to your targets.
Good luck, a wedding is a lovely event to lose weight for
I don't know if you have already done it but print off the 12 week programme, it is really helpful. It has week to week food and activity chart which you put where you can see it, get a book and write down what you eat and drink through the day. Also write down what exercises you have done for that day, in the evening go on to my fitness pal and type up what you have eaten, drunk and your exercises. Make sure you put on there your weight and waist measurements as it will calculate how much weight you should be and how many calories you should have a day. It is really helping me and I feel really good, but do exercises that you feel comfortable with,
It took me six months to lose three stone with the 5:2 Diet - and I've kept the weight off since April 2013. With any other diet I'd have put it all back on again - and more. I'm 64 and I've never been so slim or so fit and healthy!
Here's a simple little video that will tell you more youtu.be/W9Aj6hRYg4A and do use MyFitnessPal which is a brilliant free app.
good luck Mary. The first step is acknowledging you need to lose weight. The second step is starting today and doing a sensible food shop, mostly good foods and very few high cal sugar/fat foods which are just for one or two occasional treats each day to keep you motivated/happy. The third step is doing some exercise each day, even better if you feel a bit out of breath. Eat in moderation. Drink water, some watered down fruit juice and some decaffeinated tea and coffee with semi skimmed milk.
