any tips on staying on track? i look at cakes and just eat them then feel guilty but id still eat more if i could no will power

Maybe you could try some 'delay' or 'distraction' tactics - such as drinking a glass of water or cup of tea when you feel like a cake, or go for a short walk, or phone a friend, or do anything non-food related to avoid reaching for the cakes. Also, make sure you don't have cake in your home - if it's there, you will most likely be tempted to reach for it. I'm not suggesting you cut it out completely - maybe just choose a small piece of the healthiest cake you can think of (carrot cake or fruit cake) and plan a time when you will savour that cake - but keep it within your control in terms of having planned to have it.
You could also look at swapping the cake for healthier snacks - things like nuts (not too many as they are also quite calorific), and vegetables (cherry tomatoes, carrot sticks, celery etc), plain yoghurt, blueberries, strawberries, melon. There are lots of tasty things. Gradually you might find your taste buds begin to prefer the new foods, even if you don't think you like them that much to begin with.
Trying to work out what triggers your wish to eat cake can also help - i.e. is it when you're feeling bored, or upset, or angry, or another emotion - and then trying to do something else that will meet the emotional need that you are feeling. e.g. if you're upset, then you could perhaps talk through a situation with a friend, or write a journal and get your emotions out that way, or try to problem solve something that is bothering you - then you have done something practical rather than eaten cake which may make you feel even worse for having lost your sense of control.

I don't like sweet things so cake is not a problem for me, but it is crisps & cheese etc. Simple answer - I don't have them in the house. I have the occasional bag of crisps when I am out and buy cheese if I have visitors. If its not there you cant eat it.
If you keep off it for a while and all sweet things, you may find your body craves sugar less. Good luck
I'm crazy about cakes and my hobby is baking!! The only thing that works for me is to allow myself treats and count it into the plan. I've managed once a week treats (having a pudding on a Sunday works well) but also 'needed' to go to once a day - a biscuit or small piece of cake. I ask my husband to hide things but I hunt like mad to find them. However, I have had some success this treats method - no good for re-training the body/mind but one thing at a time, hey! I have also done swapping exercise for cake - walk off 500 calories and eat 250 in a cake - the exercise has to be on top of your usual, though. Good luck.
thanks guys ur right defo best not to keep it in the house and distraction is the key i think i eat when im bored im going to plan my meals and eat healthy snacks im ready and excited just hope i can stick to it
