Frustrated!

Hi there I am on Wk 3 of my weight loss plan. I am following the Fitness pal app where I log all my food. My calorie limit is 1200 which I staying just within. I have also started the C25K plan (currently on wk 2) and as my job is active I am logging all my steps through the Pacer app. All sounds good rite! Well I haven't lost so much as 1lb and to say I am frustrated is an understatement. I just don't know where I am going wrong. I am currently 162.2lbs and my aim is 132lbs. All help will be gratefully received!

You should take your measurements before starting C25K. Lots of people report either not losing or actually gaining weight during the start of C25K but those that measure do report to lose inches, in others words they trim up.

There could be number reasons for this, the conclusion that most people jump to is that muscle weighs heavier than fat, however it's unlikely that you'll gain enough muscle within 2 weeks to measures or compensated in whole pounds. It's more likely though that as you start to exercise these very large muscles in your legs, your body becomes more efficient in storing Fuel (Glycogen) in both the muscles and liver, which it does in hydrated form (4 parts of water to 1), also your system often initially back fills any emptied fat cells with this same mixture.

Best Wishes

I made pretty much the same comment last week I'm on week 4 but have been sticking to 1200 cals on my fitness pal and I have stayed the same weight for 4 weeks however I did start taking measurements and since I stated cto5 k I have lost

-9cm from chest

-10cm from waist

-4cm from hips

-2cm from top arm

-5cm from thigh

So total of 30cm/11.5 inch

So something is working so I'm keeping it up so it's worth thinking about that you will be shrinking somehow good luck

Thanks for all the responses and support!

I have taken my measurements and am going to focus on that rather than weight loss. Am feeling more positive now. I will keep you updated on my progress.

I read somewhere that if you have less than 1200 your body goes into starvation mode and won't lose weight. I don't know if that's true but maybe try adding a hundred and see if that makes a difference. Either way you're doing really well, and must feel fitter! Plus the weight has to come off sometime right? Maybe you'll get to five weeks and start constantly losing because your body will have started on the excess fat :)
