I've been loosely following the 12 week plan. I got fed up of printing sheets!
I've been using the my fitness pal app/ website to log my calorie consumption which has been really useful. It prooved me right tbat I wasnt being that unhealthy just eating way to much.
In terms of exercise I didn't go hell for leather at first. I let myself get into the idea of cutting calories first then the next week sorted out some exercise. I decided to go swimming;I know this is not your cup of tea. I chose to swim primarily because I like swimming, it's probably one of the only sports I actually like to do. When I'm in the water I can power up and down and when I was at school inwas always faster than all the sporty runners in my class (despite me size).
So I chose it because I knew I would enjoy it and keep it up. Is there something that you like to do? I only like walking if I have pleasing surroundings so I'm going to go to the beach every sunday for a walk soon.
You don't have to start big either. I've started watching keep fit videos on youtube and following them. They're good, especially the leslie sansone walks, because if you flake out and can't carry on then you don't have to worry about the instructor giving you evils!
I always enjoyed walking but decided to take upjogging. I was going to jog scotland once a week but not getting out between times so I started the Couch to 5 k. At 59 thought it was a bit late but lots of older folk on the forum. Just staring week 7 & feeling great. There are also exercide programmes on the website aswell. Good luck with the plan.
Welcome and all the best in your weight loss and healthy living journey.
I've found that using the myfitnesspal daily has helped me take a lot of notice as to what I am eating, drinking and how much exercise I have (or have not) been doing. I also have a static exercise bike at home, so I use this whilst reading my books and it helps as I don't really notice I am exercising as I am too absorbed in my book.
I've also been eating a lot more fruit, salads and vegetables during the day time which has helped with the afternoon lull of energy. Oh and setting myself water drinking targets for each day has been a great motivator too!
This forum has been a great help as just going on to read inspirational stories during times when you feel like giving in to temptation - it certainly helps to stop you. You will get a tremendous amount of support from here.
These have worked for me, but I know that each of us are different and we all need to find our own path of what works and what doesn't It may take you a little time to find your path but once you're on it you will enjoy your new way of living. I hope this helps you and I look forward to reading your posts on your achievements
