Hi Mummybear, do you have kitchen scales and an internet savvy 'phone? If so I would recommend you download the MyFitnessPal app. It's free, fairly easy to get your head round and once you know how it works and have set it up with your details and targets, all you need to do is weigh and enter the food you eat to keep a real track on it. The app will tell you how many calories you've eaten and how many left for the day. You can enter in exercise you do which will allow you to eat a few more calories if you want to, and there's loads more functions to explore. It's really worked for me as it makes me really think before I eat something, particularly the snacks! If you don't have the technology, just buy a calorie content booklet - there are loads out there - then jot everything down in a notebook. And be honest! Good luck to you. I have only 9 lbs to go - planning to get there by April - and I have never felt so well in my life!

Putting the food into google has helped me to find the calories. Just ask how many calories in however many grams of the food. It has taken me to sites where i got the information. once you know it you should log it for future use.

Hi! I'm another MyFitnessPal enthusiast and just wanted to add that at first I joined and used the web-based tool (didn't download the app until recently) and it worked perfectly.

I am another MyFitnessPal user - both online and the app.

Wouldn't be without it, makes life so much easier when counting the calories.

Good luck.

Hi I have used the fit pal app, but personally I find the fatsecret app much better + easier to use. What a god awful name! But it is very good lol :)

Btw, calorie allowance more realistic + fits in with NHS guidelines.
