My boyfriend and I have been doing the 12 week program for nearly a complete 5 weeks. I personal have lost 12 pounds and 3 inches on my waist. Most diets I try fail however this isn't really a diet its a life style change. I think the hardest thing was learning how to cook again. My boyfriend has lost 15 pounds however men do tend to lose weight faster. I do not know his inches. We also have a cheat day the way they have the diet written it does not have one. However we are finding the cheat day keeps us motivated and make us more likely to stick with it because we like what we are doing.

As jmansmom say, this is not a 'diet' but a lifestyle change and if you stick to it you will not only lose weight but get fitter. I was never a couch potato but with the extra exercise I have been doing not only have I lost wieght but my body shape has changed. I now have well toned legs & arms. If you are able I would recommend doing a lot more than the 150 minutes a week exercise.

I also eat a bit more than 1400 calories on the days I have done a lot of exercise. The great thing is that you can eat your favourite foods provided you stick within the calorie count, although obviously it is better to have a well balanced diet.

My weight stuck over the summer with visitors and meals out (but at least I didn't gain). But its going down again with 3lb lost this week.

Good luck

I have looked at the 12 Week Plan and think it contains very practical advice and agree that the occasional 'cheat day' is more likely to keep you going than been 100% strict. 1400 calories per day is too much for me as I am short and have a very slow metabolism so it might be better to go on-line and find your personal TDEE to work from.

I am doing the NHS choice and using my fitness pal app which is fabulous because if you do exercise it will recalute your calorie goal it also allows you to keep see you progress. There will be weeks where you lose no weight but will lose inches in your neck, hips, and or your waist. Also your base line calorie intake is done base off of you age height and weight.
