You could try substituting quorn into meals where you would usually have meat, eg quorn mince in a spag bol or quorn sausages and sweet potato mash with veg.

For lunch you could make a walnut salad.

I also had a nice salad in america which was unusual, Orientla chicken salad, it has mandarins, nuts, wontons and crispy noodles in, just remove the chicken.

You mean vitamin D. Please provide your source, Havard style preferred.

Here we go again. Not all processed foods need to be demonised. Quorn is not bad for you. And having it as one ingredient of many in a meal where all or most of the rest is natural should not be slammed either.

Hi Bhavptl,

I have tried making spaghetti using Quorn mince, and also made Chilli Con Quorn as well, and found both to be really tasty. If you try googling for Vegetarian recipes I am sure that many tasty recipes will come up. Hope you manage to find some nice things that you enjoy eating.

Lowcal :-)

Each of the bbc references says rickets caused by a lack of vitamin D NOT a lack of fat to absorb the vitamin D taken in. In fact, the wales one talks about people not going out and when they do, covering up so they dont get any sunlight. There is mention that some people arent getting enough vit D in their diet, and it can be quite hard to get all the vit D you need from food, especially if you have a poor diet, but no mention of people are not absorbing vit D because of low fat. Now, the other link does not work, so if you could give me the details of the paper it references I can look it up tomorrow.

Just beacause your body freaks out at it, doesnt mean everybody does. I went through a long period of time of having bad reaction every time i had pineapple, but pineapple is not bad for you. A better example, peanuts. Lots of people have peanut allergy, but i wouldnt dissuade people from eating peanuts in a general sense, or demonising them.

This link is not proof that quorn is bad for you. In fact, within it, evidence is put forward for quorn offering high quality protein, that the author, your dr briffa accepts! Further details of the high amount of fibre are included along with around a dozen papers supporting the quorn side of the argument.
