After doing 1 mile with leslie sansone for 2 days thought i would try the 2 miles. Felt so good yesterday after doing it, and then i went to bed......... My knees were aching so much i couldn't sleep. I have severe arthritis in my wrists and sometimes my knees can play up a little but they not usually to bad. I have been doing it in the evenings, maybe it would be better in the mornings. Anyone got any thoughts on this?

My knees couldn't take it.
Hi Jarobal - I also have arthritis in my knees (hands and neck)... Best to try one mile when your knees have healed up. I recall going to do some physio-rehab, where the physio MADE me do the exercises which strained my knees. One does not always feel the pain immediately - and I had to spend 5 days in bed because of the pain. If you like walking - do it a little and often, rather than 2 miles, which is a long walk for somebody with arthritis. Although you say your knees are usually not too bad - if one has arthritis, best not to strain any joints. I think I overdid mowing the lawn and pruning stuff in the garden, and had to cancel an arrangement last night (!) as SHOULDERS now suddenly very painful... I took some paracetamol last night and a bit better today but will not overdo gardening. SAVE YOUR JOINTS FOR IMPORTANT STUFF LIKE WALKING TO THE SHOPS!!! If you really enjoy a walk, I can only say a little at a time...
Thanks for your advice and support. I took a naproxen last night and feeling a lot better today. I only take them when it gets really bad, usually manage with paracetamol. I did my yoga this morning and that was great. It is the one thing i can do regularly without problems as you can go to your own ability. it's not as quick at toning but you get there. Sounds like you have a much worse time then me. I am 61 but i don't see any reason to stop looking and feeling good about myself, so onwards and upwards.
You are so right jarobal, age has nothing to do with it, I aslo have arthritis in knees and for the last three weeks severe lower back pain, going into buttock and top of thigh, people are saying it sounds like sciatica, after googling this I am petrified it is true, only 7 weeks to my Daughters Wedding , diet has been going well but I would do better if I could get out walking again, cant make local shop at end of my street without excruciating pain , I know I should see my GP but from what I have read not much helps, anyone out there with sciatica and trying to shed some weight? I would love to hear from you.
First you really should see your GP to get diagnosed properly. If it is sciatica you could try standing against the wall rolling a tennis ball around the buttock, it sometimes helps. As to exercising, have you tried yoga, it is really good for re-aligning your body and does help to tone all the muscles, It's slower but i know it works because when i was doing it 5 days a week i was totally toned. I stopped doing it a few years ago for various reasons and regret it now. Back doing it and it's great. I hope you feel a lot better soon ready for the wedding.
