I’m 33 and was diagnosed with Pcos last year… I’ve been taking metformin for the past year and my acne has completely cleared up which is great! I have issues with facial hair and was referred to get laser hair removal on the nhs I didn’t think it was making much of a difference until people around me where noticing I looked back on photos and it is making a big difference.. my doctor referred me for 8 rounds and I’m just about finished I thought I’d drop a message because some people don’t know that you can get this service on the nhs

hi,
If you don’t mind me asking, how did you get this on the NHS? I’ve been suffering since ages 21 now 31, docs just tell me to get waxed!! Also, I asked for metformin and they told me I’m not allowed it because I’m not overweight. I literally get no help. They try and get me to have the coil and that’s about it.
Thank you x
When I was diagnosed my endocrinologist just asked if I wanted to be referred and I said yes I have been getting waxed for about 20 years and it’s help massively! I think maybe switching doctors might help I had the same doctor for years and then swapped and finally got a bit of help.. as for the metformin I never got told anything about weight or anything on it I’m just grateful I’m getting heard now
Thanks for replying. I have never been under an endocrinologist either, just gynaecology for fertility years ago and then again for surgeries when I developed a giant cyst. I recently came off the pill due to migraines and since then all my symptoms have come back with a vengeance. Ithink I’ll go back to the doctors and push a bit harder. Thank you x
apparently it’s only the west of Scotland … sorry I didn’t realise at the time
