Animal farming factory is not only for cows and pigs, but also chickens and ducks. Claire Palmer, Founder of Animal Justice Project who spent two months (from October to November 2019) inside the facilities of one of the UKβs biggest duck producers said: βDue to a lack of water and filthy conditions, many birds end up on their backs, unable to right themselves.β Ducks need water when they canβt even have adequate water to drink. Palmer added: βIn one shed, 6,500 birds had access to only 50 drinkers β 130 birds per drinker.β They are left back peddling till death.
This makes me think do people really have to go great length to validate and promote meat in the name of nutrition and taste buds?! π€― Meat eaters are the Majority, they will choose meat anyways, you donβt need to persuade a kid to have a piece of candy. Where do people draw the line what can be eaten and what cannot? π€
Human has no canine teeth of an animal to tear meat, we are not designed to be carnivore. Our stomach acid is strong enough to digest veggies, legumes, plant fibers I am 100 percent sure. π Would you care enough for the rights of animals to be able to live a life of a duck, a chicken than just an abused bird for meat and eggs?!!!
With this awareness, what change would you make?! As Vegan, I choose to live in awareness of love and joy for the rights of all living things on this planet. ππππ
I have six rescue sheep (Iβve had others who sadly passed away) who were all destined to be eaten. I canβt imagine wanting to eat who I think of as my furry family π
Thank you HungryHufflepuff for being a member of rescued animals. π€πβ€οΈThey look absolutely beautiful and precious and we know they have feeling and capable of building emotional bond with us human. They canβt speak up for themselves to stop animal cruelty and are dependent on us to decide their existence. I appreciate anyone who has compassion for these innocent animals.
I live in the city so I rescued 2 cats and 1 dog. Los angles is overpopulated and so many shelters that would put animals down after few days unadopted. My heart breaks whenever I take a trip to animal shelters and I always encourage my friends and coworker please adopt an animal from shelter not from a breeder or a shop. Loosing our fur babies is like loosing our child to me and i was in great pain but I understand thatβs part of lifecycle as they donβt stay forever with us. What I can do is raising awareness of stopping animal cruelty as they teach me so much about one of the purest form of love. β€οΈ
Yes it would be more difficult to have sheep in the city. Itβs wonderful you have rescue cats and a dog, and that you encourage others to rescue rather than buy from breeders. Iβve had many rescue cats over the years. Also I fostered 9 chickens for 2 years but theyβve been rehomed now. Itβs so painfully sad when we lose a furbaby. It is a part of life but never gets easier π€
Awe I used to have a chicken pet when I was little, he used to follow me whenever I came out to the garden so who said chicken has no emotional bond with us? And then one of the distant uncle did it and I was crying for days not talking to anyone. At that time I was a kid and kid tends to forget things and moves on quick, I know it wouldnβt be easy for me now if this happened. Yes H., itβs never easier but we will do the best we can and give our best love to these innocent animals. π€
This is the sad truth. people see farm animals/ducks etc just as food - which is very hypercritical. It has been many years since I have been able to look at a cow, sheep or pig in the field because I know there fate, I always shed a tear if I do see it, its even worse in the winter when they are stuck out in all weathers - no shelter and lets not forget how unwell they all look - pumped full of antibotics and other chemicals., looking bloated to the extreme.
It's a very hard subject, but one that needs to be out there for all our lovely creatures out there that deserve the right to a happy and healthly life with shelter and warmth
For me it is hypocrisy at large, where is the logic in this? It is definitely a touchy subject but it has to be out to let us all re-evaluate where is the ethics and humanity comes in? Do we pick and choose what fits us? I donβt know about the countryside area or other states but Los angels is filled with animal shelters and they canβt do much for these poor creatures. I always cry when I visit one and I donβt know what more can I do in my capability. I stopped going there, I only come whenever I want to support my friends to adopt an animal from shelter.
Animals canβt speak up to protect themselves. We care and we need to raise awareness to stop this animal cruelty. They deserve the same rights and love and care just like anyone else to me. It is truly sad to see people have a choice and they choose to destroy these animalsβ lives. π
Awe Debs, thatβs so kind and sweet of you to sponsor these babies from Hillside animal sanctuary organization, so much blessing from you to them! π€β€οΈ
Thank you for the link Debs, I will check it out and Iβm sure I will enjoy many lovely stories about these animals. ππ
Perfectly said Debs, we all will stand strong together to make a difference till thereβs not one single animal is abused and mistreated. π
All the little things add up, thats how I see it π and we will make a difference along the way. Hillside are one of my favourites because they are not hypocritical and they go under cover and get horrible people prosecuted
My sheep have a little house they can go in π‘ Itβs getting rather weathered so Iβm going to have to think about asking someone to build, or buy and install, a new shed (I have no skills like that) and it would be nice to have something a bit bigger for them.
This is absolutely so beautiful, very neat H. I would trade my city house for all this. You have a wonderful lifestyle and awesome place in nature. π I just imagine myself bake some casserole, bring some for these fur babies and hug them. π€ I think if you can get materials yourself and hire some good referral handyman will be much more economic than having them build from A - Z. Thatβs how I did when I remodeled my bathroom. Good luck with your great project for these fur babies. ππ
Thank you for the advice π I think I sometimes talk too much about my sheep and maybe it gets boring! I often hug my sheep, they like the attention and come to see me. one in particular likes being hugged, and leans on my leg so I can't walk away, and have to do more hugs π€
Awe that's so sweet they like to hug you. More meat eaters should experience sheep hugsππ. How do your sheep stay cool in the summer?π€ They might need some AC in the barn these days, especially here in the hot and humid summers in Virginia π .
In summer the sheep have their fleece shorn off. It makes them feel cooler. It doesnβt get hot here but if itβs sunny they can sit in the shade of their barn. Sheep are intelligent with emotions and distinct characters and personality. I donβt know that anyone would want to eat a sheep after experiencing sheep hugs and just being around them. π
Anytime H. π€πI was about to ask you how is summer time for them and I saw Zazen asked you already. πThatβs perfect weather for raising sheep over there for sure, California is about 100F for summer months, will be awful for them even itβs not humid.
Thank you H. for sharing your personal experiences with these lovely fur babies and it puts smile on my face reading it, I truly enjoy and love very much! πβ€οΈ
You are absolutely right if people have a chance to be around and learn about sheep behaviors, they will have different perspectives on all this. For city folks like me, I only see sheep On TV and thanks to you, I learned more about them and love them more than I already do in my mind. They totally deserve a whole post embracing them with details coming from their best owner/mommy in the world. ππ€β€οΈ
I know I'm blessed to be able to live with sheep. It started unintentionally, with one sheep. Thankfully I have the space to be able to welcome several sheep, which if I lived in a city would not be possible.
My sheep bring me lots of happiness so I'm thankful they live with me. π
Hello HungryHufflepuff I love this and bet the sheep that youβve rescued have so I have nothing but respect for you and respect with a capital R. π π
Thank you Hidden for saying that. My sheep are like my family so we have mutual respect. They're happy to live their lives and be able to do what they want. They come up to me for hugs and attention. I like being with them as there's nothing better than being in the middle of a group of sheep all gathered round, it's like being in a big sheepy hug. Which maybe sounds too sentimental but it's so uplifting. π€
Thank you for helping to spread this awareness. I'm sure everyone of these ducks will want to hug and thank you if they couldπ€. Its important that we dont forget the ones in captivity and suffering torture.
Thank you Zazen, thatβs the least I can do at the moment π€. I love these babies, they are super cute and follow you around when you raise them. My chicken pet before actually responded to my voice when I called him and let me pet him when I played in the garden.
Yes Zazen imagine if only we all choose animal cruelty free lifestyles, none of this would be happening like right now. π
Hi Koko a really easy question is: What is meat?
The native Americans who hunted the buffalo lived with nature and successfully because they didn't exploit nature or their environment and thats whats wrong with modern Factory farming its cruel exploitation full stop!
Hi Jerry, Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us in VFL. ππ
Modern animal factory farming is a pandemic disease that needs to be stopped. If thereβs no demand, there wonβt be supply. With much more awareness these days, people are choosing plant based food to sustain and live harmoniously with all living things on this Earth.
There are about 50 percent of US population are choosing to be βflexitariansβ which include plant based food in their meals, itβs not completely meatless but itβs a first step to better planet. πππ
