Great fan of lentil/dals, but not found a good way of including them at home. I made a chickpea curry with inspiration from this bbc video: bbcgoodfood.com/videos/ingr...
Could I replace the chickpeas with lentil somehow?

I use lentils in soups, stews, curries. I'm on a low fodmap diet for IBS and can only have a certain amount of lentils but have found some very good recipes online using tinned lentils.
Hi, you can add orange lentils to any curry just make sure you add extra water as they soak it up.
Also have you ever made your own dhal?
I fry onion, lots of garlic, ginger and a chilli. Then put in the lentils cover with boiling water plus about an inch add more as required. Then when it looks like the lentils are softening I add a teaspoon of curry or cumin, turmeric and salt. You can also squeeze in fresh lemon and a handful of coriander, if you have it. If you've got any ingredient missing just miss it off. (Not lentils obviously π)

Hi Ali, I have tried various dhal recipes, much like youβve described. Trouble is none of them live up to my memories of how my mum made them maybe Iβm just a poor cook or she was very good!
