Does anybody know why my newly diagnosed son would have severe shooting pains on the right side of his head? Elaine

He has been getting large lumps coming up and then quickly going on his head too.

He is still having tests as the Vasculitis was discovered on a skin biopsy for the whole body rash he had.

Thanks

Elaine

Hi Elaine

You don't say which of the vasculitides your son has - maybe they haven't yet decided. There are a number of the diseases where severe headaches occur and there are a number where rashes occur. Sorry I can't be more specific other than to say that these things do happen. Best to get an opinion from the specialist treating him or contact the specialist nurse and give him/her your son's symptoms.

Yes I agree with Pat....you need to talk to his consultant about these severe headaches

Hi, Dan has Uticarial Vasculitus diagnosed at the moment but also has high Trypaste levels in his blood and his white blood count is not right. We saw the consultant yesterday and she said the head pains may be where sinus tubes are reacting and there is no indication of pressure on his brain.

We are new to all this as he only became really ill in August, when along with a whole body rash he had swollen hands and lumps under his feet so he could not walk, weakness in muscles, swollen lips, red eye, vomitting and breathing problems.

He has had quite a few tests and has just been put on 400mg of Plaquenil. He was initially on steroids but they got him off of those when he had to be admitted overnight in hospital and takes 20mg of Cetirizine and 4 puffs a day of Seretide 50.

The consultant said he has mast cell involvement as well as the UV.

We go back in 4 weeks time and he may have to have more tests as they have just found protein in his urine.

He is feeling quite well at the moment apart from the shooting pains in his limbs, head and neck.

He had a terrible shooting pain on his wrist the other night that lasted about 10 minutes. The pain was so severe it made him sweat. By the morning a large solid lump appeared on the spot where the pain was and lasted for about 24 hours. I think the lumps that appear on his head are similar.

We do not know what to expect with this illness but just hope Dan will start feeling much better soon.

Any advice would be welcomed.

Thanks,

Elaine.
