I have been seen by a Rheumatologist for my WG since being diagnosed in 2009 but would like to see a Vasculitis Specialist.
If you are not happy with the treatment you are receiving or with the consultant you are seeing, you have the right, under "NHS Choice" regulations to be referred to another hospital or consultant of your choice and your GP is the apropriate person to do this for you. But, unless you know who or where you want to be referred to, your GP may not know who or where! Please write to me privately to see if we can help. John
I see a Rheumatologist. He is also THE Vasculitis specialist and is known Worldwide . It was actually a bit of a struggle to get referred to him. To be honest, I don't think Vasculitis specialists, as such, exist. It's a far too specialised field.
I see a Rheumatologist who specialises in vasculitis, i have to see him at a hospital in a neighbouring county as nobody in Leicestershire had the relevant experience. I agree with Dblox that to the best of my knowledge vasculitis specialists don't exist
