Hi, can someone tell me what normal titre levels are and also what is a protinase 3 antibody level?

ANCA titre of <1/20 is considered negative/normal

There are two protinase 3 tests.

The older PR3 has a negative range of 0-7

The newer PR3s is scored negative for values 0-3

However, please remember positive results aren't always indicative of active disease and vice versa.

Its exact role in the function of the neutrophil is unknown (Wikipedia)

Healthy wishes.

Thanks Martin, I had bloods and a CXR done in mid Feb but its only now I'm getting these back. WG 12 yrs

I have a titre of 1;40 and a strong positive protinase level. Just wondering if I should give my consultant a buzz as I only see him once a year and thats in October

I'm a big believer in taking action asap on every occasion. I have WG too and am one of a number of patients who don't fit the 'standard model' when it comes to test results. The most important indicator for me is simply how I feel and I'm fortunate to have a wonderful local consultant here in Cumbria that respects that. I'm also treated at Addenbrookes where they too are very aware that test results are just a potential part of the picture.

David Jayne recommended I get my bloods tested every couple of months (which I do) and am fortunate to be able to log onto my hospital's Renal View (although I've no kidney involvement) and monitor my own results. I tend to watch for trends e.g. upward moving C-ANCA, CRP and falling IgG levels) and prompt actions before they move out of the normal range (which they rarely do).

I'd certainly contact your consultant if I were in your position unless perhaps the results you have are 'normal' for you?

Hi Martin, I emailed my consultant with the results and he replied with " these results are satisfactory" therefore I am a happy bunny again. Many thanks :)
