I have vasculitis GPA and have regular infusions of rituximab which is an immunosuppressant. On a recent trip to Addenbrookes (Cambridge Hospital) to see my consultant they signed me up to take part in the Protect-V clinical trial. An anti covid vaccine.
Anyone else here involved in that trial or any other trials?

Yes, signed up by Addenbrookes too. Been to my first two appointments….the rest has been a few minutes of straightforward questions. No side effects from the infusion that I’ve noticed.
I had my infusion in February. I thought I had the placebo because I had no side effects but apparently that’s been the case. The staff are lovely and treat you to tea and biscuits when you go. They do like to do additional tests four weeks after you have a Covid jab so maybe a good idea to time this to match your normal appointments.
I think I have had an armful of salty water too 😀 No side affects here. I've got the four week follow up appointment coming up which I assume is just for bloods. Hopefully I'll get a cuppa and some biscuits too😄
I've not been able to get a covid booster around my way. Hoping they will start again doling those out next week 04th Sept is in my mind for some reason
So I guess that means that either I really did get the armful of salty water, or the Protect-V anti-covid vaccine was not as effective over the longer term as hoped?
Funnily enough I did bump into the clinical co-ordinator for the trial at the hospital last month, and she said the trial was effectively over. At least that means I don't get the pleasure of a "SWAT" team coming to visit me for samples.
Fortunately my covid seems to be quite mild, a bit like a summer cold. A mildly sore throat and a slightly snotty nose and initially a headache brough under control by paracetamol.
Hopefully my participation added to the sum of human knowledge!!
