Help, my husband and I are on a cruise, we managed to go ashore to beautiful place Cadiz. After visiting Cadiz we had a sea day but my husband developed a cough which upset his sleep. We had taken some testing kit with us as well as and he tested positive for Covid which meant we were confined to our cabin for six days.
Face masks x 100
Gloves x 100
Clinell (spelling) surface wipes x 100
Clinell hand wipes
People were asked to wear mask and to use the many hand washing and alcohol and very few did.
Today 13th July2022 the nurse came and took a nasal sample from my husband and me. He was negative and I am positive!!!! And so we are still in quarantine. My husband spoke to the ship’s doctor regarding Anti viral medications, he admitted that he didn’t know any about “Churg Strauss” and was contacting a fellow medic.
Is there anything else I should be doing and does anyone have information re anti-viral? We are currently in the Pacific Ocean and I will be limited on what to do next
Looking forward to guidance and any recommendations re anti viral.
Many thanks in anticipation

What medication are you on for your vasculitis? I got COVID when I was abroad with no access to antivirals so I can empathise. Rest and plenty of fluids was what I was advised by the local doctor. I was positive for 11 days.
Thanks for your reply. I have medication for other conditions but for vasculitis I take nothing at the moment. I was having Rituximab yearly but was stopped due to Covid. I have absolutely no symptoms and I feel really good, the best I’ve been for a long while. When I got home and did another test it was negative, repeated test was also negative as was my husbands. It is a reminder that it’s a test and it is possible to get a wrong result.
I also have EGPA having been diagnosed in December 2020. Despite having been extremely careful I caught Covid last Christmas from a family member.
Unfortunately the NHS system was overwhelmed and despite following all the procedures I was not given the anti viral treatment as they had left it too late (It has to be taken within five days of diagnosis to be of effect).
My consultant had previously advised that if I caught Covid I was to double my dose of prednisolone (increased from 5mg daily to 10mg and stop taking Azapthioprene (150mg per day). A quick call to the Vasculitis Nurse at the hospital confirmed that to be the case (appreciating I was not on a cruise).
For me it was flu symptoms which laid me low for a few days. It did take a while for me to test negative and I resumed my original medication regime when the virus had passed and the Consultant had given the green light.
My regime of course may be different to your own so if you haven’t been given advice as to what to do in these circumstances you could ask that the shops doctor contacts your consultant for advice. I should also add that I was up to date with my jabs.
