Probably a 'Stupid' question, but Most Important.

Dear All,

I have heard on these 'Forums', and elsewhere, about 'Trolls'- I assume that's how it's spelt. My question is this...Are these the Nasty 'On line' people, who make Nasty/ Horrible, or Hurtful, comments- as opposed to those who seek to Steal, from us. Or are They the same 'Thing'.

Sorry but I may know my 'Way Around', these pages, and be able to Order Goods 'On Line'. I can also Look Up information, watch some Films/ Videos or even Send some Video (just about). However, beyond that, I'm NOT really a 'Genius' at all! I HAVE managed to install an 'Ad Blocker'......So far, nearly 9 Thousand Ads have been Blocked!

As I said, at the Top, this IS Probably a 'Stupid' Question, However will someone 'Humour' this 'Middle Aged'...Heck...late Fifties Man' and answer/ explain this please?

I think Trolls make nasty horrible comments but these are closed groups and anything horrible should be deleted.

Trolling is a general term for anything that is nothing to do with the subject at hand - and it can be deliberate posting on a forum that is simply nothing to do with the subject through to nasty commenting (but that may also be spamming) all with the deliberate intention of causing a reaction, mainly emotional.

It is the role of the moderators to identify and stop it - which sometimes is hard as even members of the community will slowly drift into doing it (or not so slowly) and when asked to stop or moderate what they are doing get very stroppy, even nasty.

Spamming is a bit different - it's sending lots of similar unsolicited posts/replies to various people but which aren't nasty

Hi Andrew, AD blocker l put on the one you suggested and am u[ to 6,489 now; at the time you were about 2,500; it's just amazing at how many adverts have been captured in such a short time.
