Hi my husband has GPA in drug induced remission and only on AZA. He has had the stand and treatment and is doing ok.
My question is he seems to go from one cold to another runny nose (no blood etc) and sneezing .. is this usual when immunity is suppressed? I had bad hay fever at the moment and are symptoms are almost similar. He does not feel unwell usually tiredness some days and is eating well. It was his lungs that were affected and we have been told no lasting damage.
Interested to hear reply, thank you

I was diagnosed with EGPA 2 years ago. For years before I was diagnosed I suffered from late onset of asthma, allergies, rhinitis and sinusitis which give similar symptoms to your husband. I am well now but still suffer runny nose and sneezing daily. I take antihistamines and nasal sprays daily to help ease these annoying symptoms.
Hi, I have been in remission since 2012 and I have gradually reduced my drug count down to just Mycophenolate. Everything continued to be fine but then in 2017 I started to catch every virus that was going round. Continually fighting viruses does take it out of you. I mentioned this to my consultant and after a discussion we jointly agreed to reduce my dose of Mycophenolate. This was a slightly risky strategy as I have remained ANCA positive and the reduction of immunosuppresant could result in a flare or relapse. Thankfully neither happened and the boost to my immune system significantly reduced the number of viruses I was catching. It might be worth your husband discussing it with his consultant.
My husbands lungs were damaged due to the Vasculitis ( GPA) . Our problem has been small grandchildren , they seemed to like to share every bug going with John. But we managed to get top side of this problem by using routine regular hand washing and PPE. John is now free from any medication and hardly gets a cold or sniffle at all and of course the grand children are getting older.
